On Monday, 27 July 2026, Australia is running a nationwide test of AusAlert, a new emergency warning system.
All compatible mobile devices across Australia will receive a Critical Alert simultaneously (in NSW, the alert will take place at 2:00pm). Even if your phone is on silent or Do Not Disturb, the alert will still sound. Compatible mobile devices will vibrate and play a loud, siren-like warning sound for about 10 seconds, displaying a clearly marked test message on the screen.

::No Action Needed:: You do not need to reply or do anything; the test simply ensures the system is ready to rapidly broadcast real emergency warnings (like bushfires or floods) before it goes fully live in October.
