Had the best time performing at the Winter Wonderland Showcase last night! The vibes were so high and our performers (many of them first timers) were incredible 🤩.

If you’re wondering why I’m laughing so much in this performance it’s because I made the mistake that thinking Charlie (my darling 5 years ago old daughter) was ready to come watch a whole pole show 😂. Charlie has been practicing her pole moves a LOT at home and so she wanted to do a special guest show herself 😂. Which she did, a little bit stage struck, but she loved the rapturous and generous applause from the audience 🥰. Then, she literally stole the show - took the microphone from me, introduced performers, gave her verdict after each show, ranging from “beautiful”, “stunning”, “gorgeous”, “perfection” to “good”. To be fair, I think as far as she’s aware good is on par with stunning in terms of compliments 😂. Then during my guest show, she jumped up on stage and pole danced her little heart out on a pole next to me 🥰🤩😂

I’m so proud of Charlie, and all the performers last night, and how lucky we were to get special guest shows from Lisa Gregory Sasha W and LuLu 🤩 can’t wait to see the pics and videos Maddie Sparkle E L E K T R A ⚡️💫 🧿 💛 🥰

Our Winter Wonderland Showcase kicks off today at 4pm at our Brookvale studio! Come celebrate our incredible pole community as our students take the stage to show off their strength, artistry, and hard work. We are so excited to see our amazing Winter Wonderland Showcase performers tomorrow at the Brookvale Studio! There are 3 categories:
1. Pole Show - they choreograph and performance a show consisting of pole tricks and dance;
2. Freestyle - they choose the genre, we choose the song - and away they go!
3. Low Flow - for our choreography queens (and kings) 👑

It’s been such a pleasure watching Sasha W transition from student to instructor at Pole Dance Academy | Sydney 🥰. We’ve had such lovely feedback from her students, which has been so wonderful for Sasha because it can be really nerve wracking teaching your first class by yourself!!!

We get a lot of questions about the process of becoming an instructor at PDA. All our instructors complete our Pole Dance Academy instructor program, but not everyone who takes the program ends up becoming an instructor. Of course, you have to be passionate, an amazing pole dancer, with solid knowledge of pole instruction techniques and enthusiasm to motivate your students, but it’s so much more than that. Being a good instructor is a mix of having very practical skills, technical expertise and knowledge, but also all of the soft skills that go along with making a class an amazing experience for students.

There is an assessment at the end of the instructor training and from those assessments we might end up inviting some students to start shadowing/assisting classes at Pole Dance Academy, with a view to maybe one day getting their own classes on the timetable.

It’s a whole process - and you learn so much from it, whether or not you go on to teach pole at PDA!

And yes, it’s open to all - you don’t have to be a PDA student. You can already be an instructor elsewhere looking to upskill, or a student at another studio. All welcome!
