Wildlife Sanctuary Anketell Forest is located in the New England Tablelands 30 minutes south of Tenterfield NSW and is home to 1800 Acres full of some of the most stunning natural rock formations and wildlife in the New England Region. This beautiful property also features 'Anketell Sound Stage' a very unique and versatile space for creative beings in particular musicians. Steve Merta, a successfu

l designer, inventor, builder, fabricator, sound engineer alongside a long professional music career as a drummer starting in the 70's and continuing through the 80's and 90's. This saw Steve play in original bands and show bands holding multiple residencies around Australia and the Whitsunday Islands. Steve has always had a passion for live sound and recording, which led him to creating 'Anketell Sound Stage'

A place for the creative community of the New England Tablelands. In this space musicians have the opportunity to:

- Rehearse live shows, dial in their live sound and inter-musical dynamics plus record the practice session in the following ways,

Studio One Multitrack Daw OR QSC Touch mix 30 to USB Hard Drive. The sessions can be taken home for review, a valuable resource.

- Record EP's or Albums using either a live recording set up or Individual tracking.

- During either of these experiences arrangements can be made for film and film editing. Bringing your own engineer can also be accommodated. This is a very flexible environment Steve is easy to work with and will make you feel comfortable. Accommodation can also be arranged if wanted or required for up to 10-12 people not onsite but close by.

'Anketell Sound Stage' at times hosts its own private live music events. This has seen artists, bands, songwriters such as Aza Doota, Hip Mamma, Wintersoul Collective, Darko Williams, Jeff Manning, Plan 9, The Chest Feeders, Katherine Luxford, The Mark Howell Trio, Luke Oppenheimer, Naomi Bain, Ash Hall, Dave Brown, Georgie Chorley, Peter Skelton, Ollie McGill, James Hazlewood, The Remains, BanjOwen, Jodie Bain, Laurie Newsome, Blind Melon Chitlin, Aby Nathan, Peter Crisp, Daniel 'Danny Gold' Gildenhuys, Casey Jones, BJ Arthur, Carolyn Saxon, Ted, and many more!
