We're relieved to announce that after 4years and 5 months of painful perseverance and commitment to our dream of Ride Waterpark, we finally have the first of 2 main steps in at council on exhibition for 3 weeks, with the second step ready to follow.
It is for the zoning of the land to be put back to what it was when we first lodged back in Dec 2013 (which allows outdoor recreation facilities) , council have give full support to this happening but always has to go to public exhibition for submissions. (Side note: council are now blanket rezoning the whole area back to this original zoning by the end of the year).
If you think what we are trying to achieve for our community is worth supporting, we would love some positive submissions via email at [email protected] between now and by 5:00 pm on 21 June 2018, quoting file number 58-2016-2-1
Basically the submission can be reasons why you think yourself, families, businesses, the community, could benefit from our unique and innovative water park.
Notes to keep in mind are the jobs created and importantly the environmental factors we have worked tirelessly on....
- Purchase of land that involved no clearing or damage to wildlife corridors
- Creation of one of Australia’s largest biological filters (all plants, no chemicals) - Creation of 3 new ecosystems on a site that is currently a paddock.
- A solar system which will run the cable system with zero draw on the grid.
- Tonnes of oxygen created per year with the movement of riders in the lake.
- A unique clay infused barrier lining the lake edges to control sediment and any connection to the natural ground water hydraulics.
- An innovative onsite effluent treatment system that is chemical free, isn’t affected by rain or groundwater/flood, minimal land use, no odour and can’t contaminate the ground it sits on and is aesthetically pleasing.
- Construction techniques proposed to eliminate or minimise impacts to land, groundwater and neighbours.
- Also a full landscape design done by an engineer with 40 years local knowledge with some really interesting concepts.
Although the submissions are aimed at the land use, they will be used again for the DA of the waterpark , so lets show the council what you want in port Stephens.
The DA will be “re-lodged” in the months to follow with renewed extensive studies & reports.
As a long time local family we are really excited to work with you all to create something fresh that will support local families, community and business.
