BYS Easter Art Show

BYS Easter Art Show Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron Inc (“BYS”) is conducting its 16th Easter Art Show from 3 April - 6 April 2026

The BYS Easter Art Show 2025 showcases a broad range of artistic works from a variety of media including indoor and outdoor sculpture. Outdoor sculpture takes pride and place on the deck and lawn which adds to the ambiance of the club. Opening Night function on Friday, 18 April from 6.30pm, tickets available thru Trybooking https://www.trybooking.com/CTVDB
Our feature artists this year are Wilma

Green, Mel Rayski-Mati and Jordan Richardson. The Art Show is open from 10:00am-5:00pm on Saturday 19 April and Sunday 20 April and from 10:00am -2:00pm on Monday 21 April. Tickets available at the door each day and visitors are welcome to stay on at the club and enjoy the bistro and bar offerings whilst enjoying the spectacular views from the deck of the bay or just relax on the lawn or beach. Adam Knight's notes; Whilst several pf Patti’s photographs were also considered I will admit to you that this work found me before I found it. Patti Green's Window 1 stopped me in my tracks when it appeared on the club's social media, and it has not let me go since. That, I would argue, is the first and most important test of a great Photograph. It demands your attention and holds it. A window, ajar, looking out onto a billowing monochromatic sky, whilst concept is deceptively simple the questions it raises are anything but. Where is this place? What lies beyond that sky? Are we looking out, or is something looking in? Is this an escape, or an invitation? Green has created a work of genuine depth with tonal precision including a masterful use of light and shadow. Art should make us wonder. To make us sit with uncertainty and find it beautiful 🐰

Best Outdoor Sculpture: Seahorse by Jim Boland Metal Art
"Before I speak to this work, I want to acknowledge that we are fortunate indeed to have Deborah Halpern among our exhibiting artists — a sculptor of international standing whose presence alone elevates any show she graces. The outdoor sculpture award brings me to Jim Boland's Sea Horse. Sited beautifully against the backdrop of the bay, the piece rises from a bed of forged reeds and aquatic forms with real compositional intelligence with the seahorse emerging vertically from its environment as it does in nature, surrounded by the darting suggestion of small fish and coastal grasses. The metalwork is confident and considered It demonstrates that Jim understands his material and has used it to capture both the architectural strangeness of the seahorse form and its fragility. It is a work that belongs exactly where it stands on the water's edge. Seahorse is available for purchase please DM us if interested! 🐰

Adam Knight's notes: Jo-Anne Seberry's pastel is Joyous. There is a long and distinguished tradition of painters who have turned their eye to the pleasures of sun, sand and human connection, and Jo-Anne places herself comfortably within that genre.
The Renoir comparison is not made lightly — there is the same warmth of light, the same delight in the casual beauty of everyday life, the same sense that the artist genuinely loves the scene before her.
