Day Gallery Day Gallery presents all mediums of creativity from working contemporary Australian artists.

This is aimed at documenting current visual aesthetics, social and environmental values, Australian culture. In Unison the gallery is interested in Australian historical pictorial works from pre federation -generally 1800-1900. We endeavour to create an overall visual document of specific points in Australia’s past.

‘With minimal wind, no clouds, sunny clear days,
alongside temperatures ranging from 3 - 5 degrees,
made for perfect painting conditions.

Working without gloves, gave Johnny the freedom to paint en plein air from high vantage points and experience faraway mountain horizon lines.

The intense, vibrant sunlight created electric blue
shadows and hard edged shapes, which became the
focal point for this body of work.

These are four plein air 60 x 60 cm panels painted by J O H N N Y K in the Snowy Mountains and now hanging on the way for you to view in Blackheath!

Each work is made with BKs signature use of Korean Hanji (mulberry tree paper). BK creates beautifully textured works that explore connection, culture and place. We’re delighted to welcome Jo Langley, a Blue Mountains abstract artist, to Day Gallery.

Working with acrylic on paper and canvas, Jo creates expressive, playful compositions through bold colour, layered forms and intuitive mark-making. Her works sit between abstraction and landscape, inviting the viewer to find their own sense of place within each energetic composition.
