There is a beautiful sense of landscape and quiet drama in this stitched textile work. The contrast between earthy browns, deep blacks and soft, sun-washed cream creates a feeling of land, light and shadow. Hand-dyed fabrics are layered and pieced together, while intricate stitching adds texture, rhythm and delicate details that seem to map the surface. There is something wonderfully organic about the work, as though the landscape has been slowly gathered, shaped by time and remembered through cloth and thread.

Tim Allen has done it again with these three spectacular canyon paintings.

Bursting with colour, movement and light, each work captures the ever-changing energy of the canyon, from the cool blues and greens of the shaded water to the fiery ochres and golden reflections.

There’s an incredible sense of movement in these paintings that makes you want to step straight into the canyon and immerse yourself in the landscape.

Somehow we all made it into the frame — and naturally, there’s a harold david combs painting in the background.
