Airfix French Grenadier 54mm Modification Project.

I wanted to share a small project I started a little over a month ago. This is my take on the classic 54mm French Grenadier kit from Airfix, where I set out to put my own spin on the original.

I made a number of changes that, in my view, improve the base figure. This included adding a Hornet head, reworking several elements, reshaping the torso and front facings, and sculpting new details using Green Stuff and Magic Sculpt.

Once the construction was complete, I painted the figure primarily with Vallejo paints.

The figure itself is finished, though I’m still deciding whether to keep it as a standalone piece or develop it into a vignette.

The jacket is being refined, and the scarf is now coming together around the collar.
Establishing this will make it easier to work through the finer headscarf details beneath the jawline, before turning attention to the arm and handbag.
