Captain Pompous | Work in Progress
A little look at Captain Pompous, currently taking shape under the paintbrush as a commissioned piece.
There’s still plenty to do, but the character is really starting to come alive now. The uniform is getting its depth and definition, with plenty of subtle shading and highlights still to be added. The face is also beginning to reveal that wonderfully stern, slightly self-important expression that makes Captain Pompous… well, Captain Pompous. 😏
It’s always satisfying to see one of my sculpts make the journey from bare resin to a fully painted character.

English Uniform + German Camouflage Black Brown, approximately 4:1
Shadow 2:
English Uniform + Black Brown, approximately 2:1
Deepest recesses:
Black Brown + a little English Uniform
First highlight:
English Uniform + Khaki, approximately 3:1
Second highlight:
English Uniform + Khaki, approximately 1:1
Final highlight:
Khaki + a small amount of Iraqi Sand

YS21 Cunning Courtier | First Casting

The first casting of YS21 Cunning Courtier is out of the mould, and I’m really pleased with how this one has turned out. 🎩

The casting has come out beautifully, with the detail of the original sculpt showing through incredibly well. From that wonderfully expressive face and elaborate ruff to the clothing, buttons and fine detailing, he’s looking every bit the character I had in mind when I sculpted him.

There’s always a little moment of anticipation when that first cast comes out of a new mould, but this one certainly didn’t disappoint!

A quick update from YbrossculptS...

Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone for your patience. I know many of you have been eagerly waiting for the latest releases: Mavis, The Reverend, Herr Kaleu, and The Cunning Courtier.

Unfortunately, things have taken a little longer than expected due to a combination of resin supply issues, along with a few improvements and additions that became apparent after receiving the test casts. Rather than rushing them out, I wanted to make sure they were the best they could be before release.

The good news is that everything is moving forward again, and I'm pleased to share a little sneak peek with you. These photos, kindly sent by my mouldmaker, show a couple of the latest test casts. It's always exciting to see them finally come to life!
There's still a little work to do before they're ready, but I don't think you'll have too much longer to wait.

As always, thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and patience. It really does mean a great deal and I'm looking forward to sharing the finished pieces with you all very soon.

French Grenadier at Waterloo
Hello everyone,
Following on from the 54mm airfix Grenadier modification the other week is the second figure I'm hoping to use for a future vignette. This is almost entirely scratch built, using a mix of GS and Aves 2 part epoxy, apart from the Hornet head, which has also been modified from the original. It represents an officer of the Imperial Guard at Waterloo. Painted with Vallejo acrylics.
