Agricultural shows are so much more than just an event!

They are about community, tradition, agriculture, volunteering and bringing people together. 🌾🐮

Without our shows, we lose more than an event, we lose a part of our community.

Congratulations to all of the Rural Ambassador State Finalist!!!

The Biggenden Show Society would like to say a big thank you to Holly Ahern for representing us down at the Ekka and doing our town proud. We are extremely proud of Holly.

A huge congratulations to Community Spirit Award winner Georgie Orman, representing the Longreach Show Society, 2026 Queensland Rural Ambassador Lauren Finger, representing the Taroom Show Society, and Runner-Up Matthew McCauley, representing the Murgon Show Society.

Congratulations again to all of the finalists on an outstanding achievement, and we wish Georgie, Lauren and Matthew all the very best for the journey ahead! 👏🌾

Over the weekend our Showgirl Cheyenne Slaats and Rural ambassador Holly Ahern represented Biggenden at the 2026 Burnett Sub Chamber hosted by Mount Perry Show Society. 💐

Both girls represented our Show Society with pride and we are extremely proud of their efforts.🌟

Biggenden Show Society is extremely proud to announce that Holly Ahern will be representing Biggenden and the Burnett Sub Chamber at the EKKA in August! 🌾🩷 We wish Holly all of the best as she prepares for State Finals.

A massive congratulations to Bundaberg’s Showgirl Vanessa Beavan on being sashed Burnett Showgirl 2026. We wish Vanessa the best of luck at State Finals.

Today, the Biggenden Show Society joins the wider community in mourning the passing of a truly respected and much-loved showman, Lenny Jansen.

For many years, Lenny was a familiar and welcoming voice at shows across Queensland. More than an announcer, he was a passionate advocate for agricultural shows, a supporter of exhibitors, and a friend to so many within our show movement. Lenny was also a great storyteller making his words captivating on show day. His warmth, knowledge, and ability to connect with people made every event he attended that little bit more special.

Lenny’s dedication to the show community and his commitment to promoting our rural traditions left a lasting impression on generations of competitors, volunteers, officials, and spectators. He had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel valued and for sharing infinite wisdom.

The Biggenden Show Society extends its sincere condolences to Lenny’s family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. We are grateful for the time, friendship, and passion he shared with our community and so many others.

While his voice may no longer echo through the showgrounds, the memories he created and the legacy he leaves behind will live on for years to come.

Rest in peace Lenny 🤍🕊️
