Unveils 2023 Metamorphosis With Catchy Indie-Pop Single, ‘Devil In The Mirror’

In our modern world, we are constantly faced with images of what we should look like, how we should behave, who we should be and a bar of impossible ‘perfection’ that society expects us to live by. Karen’s self-written, recorded and produced track, ‘Devil In The Mirror’, mixed and mastered by Edwin Kraus, dives into the way that many feel when they don’t see themselves as measuring up.

Within ‘Devil In The Mirror’ - a catchy track filled with driving drum rhythms and 80’s style bass lines, with an underlying ambience of bell synth pads and binaural beats - the devil acts as a metaphor for the judging voice in our heads that is constantly putting us down, and leaving us feeling inadequate, whether that be through body image, relying on acceptance from others or not achieving what we set out to do.

‘Re:Connected’ by Redundant Nature was released on September, 24 in 2021. I found it in November and the first thing that I did was adding ‘Ancestry’ to all my electro-industial playlists. Then I decided to listen to it a bit more and now, in February 2022, here is my review on this EP.

In 'Re:connected' Redundant Nature develops "old-school industrial with modern techniques" as much as possible.

Julio Awad, a pianist with a large catalog of classical, film, and stage performances, and Patxi Pascual, an innovative woodwind player who collaborated with the largest names in Spanish Flamenco, Big Band, and Jazz, joined together and released their debut CD ‘Flash & Shadow’.

The first single, ‘Flash & Shadow Pt. 1’, impressed us by the clean sharp sound and touching melodies. As we understood from the press-release, this effect had been reached by the spectral separation of instruments (sax takes highs and piano is in the lows and mids) together with the virtuous bouncing of each others overtones by the two players.

Here you can listen to ‘Flash & Shadow Pt. 1’ while reading our interview with Julio Awad and Patxi Pascual.

Drew Paralic is a non-performing jazz composer & arranger. He decided to record his compositions starting in 2000 and chose to hire professional players instead of playing himself. Drew has arranged his music, over 45 originals recorded thus far, in a variety of settings: quartets, trios, duos and solo piano pieces, and often employed different lead instruments – various saxes, clarinets, flute, trumpet, flugelhorn, piano, and even vocals on two pieces, “How Billlʼs Heart Sings” and “My Wintertime Sky”. His first CD, “Too Little, Too Late”, won an OMA award in 2002.
Recently Drew released his fifth album “Mary’s Place”.

And if you will follow the link, you will find our recent interview with Drew:
