Art Spaces applications for 2023 exhibitions are now open!
Applications are accepted from individual artists or groups residing in Melbourne's south east suburbs with a priority given to City of Casey artists.
The Art Spaces program offers three community exhibition spaces at Bunjil Place Library, Cranbourne Library, and the Hayshed at the Old Cheese Factory.
The spaces are suitable for exhibiting painting, photography, printmaking, ceramics, craft, drawing, textiles, mixed media and digital art.

Step outside your daily reality into Bunjil Place's latest exhibition SPAGHETTI-SNACK-SNUFFLE-SHUFFLE.
This immersive and playful installation is made up of familiar textures, materials and forms that are assembled, stacked, shuffled, and sewn to create fantastical forms and absurd animal scenes that blur the lines between contemporary art and craft.

‘Spaghetti-Stack-Snuffle-Shuffle’ was created by Rosie whilst undertaking an artist-in-residence at the Old Cheese Factory. This is the first exhibition of Deacon’s work in Victoria, and the residency is a first for Bunjil Place.
Bunjil Place Gallery is open Tuesday – Sunday from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Entry is free.

Our amazing volunteer Jedda has been a busy bee revamping the bug hotel for the minibeasts and insects in our gardens.
Not only are they fun to build, and great to look at, they create a safe space to attract beneficial insects to find shelter and nest.

Ladybugs can live up to 1 year and in that time may eat as many as 5,000 insects... that's a daily feast of 13 insects!

You’ll be creating a recycled paper dahlia and these are the materials you will need:
- Paper, it could be an old book or old class notes (recycled ideally but it can be new paper)
- Glue - preferably a hot glue gun or PVA
- A compass or 2 plates (different sizes) to draw out 2 circles
- Cardboard, for the base

Take a piece of garbage and transform it into a piece of functional, up-cycled art. Just find a used vessel at home like an old jam jar, a dirty terracotta pot from the garden, a glass bottle from the recycling bin, an empty soup can, or a cracked mug that you would otherwise throw away.
Over the 1.5 hour workshop we will use different techniques to transform the piece of rubbish into an artwork that you can display at home, and/or use as a pot planter or flower vase! You will also need to supply your own art materials. If you can’t access an art store, you can use household items such as acrylic house paints, sharpies/posca pens, pencils, paper, glue, images cut out from magazines/books, stickers, rhinestones and more. Meet W. J. T Clarke...
168 years ago, on the 18 July 1854 William John Turner Clarke (aka "Big" Clarke) purchased over 3,000 acres known as "The Springs", for a sum of nine hundred and fifty pounds, nineteen shillings and three pence.
This land included the property which would later become a functional cheese factory that produced up to 150 cheeses per week.
Today the Homestead, Cheese Factory and Wash House stands as a tall reminder of Australia's early colonial history.

🐻 HAVE YOU SEEN OUR TEDDY BEAR? 🐾 Due to the current lockdown our annual Teddy Bears Picnic was cancelled but we forgot to tell the Old Cheese Factory bears who went missing yesterday. The team went on a bear hunt through the gardens and grounds and we found almost everyone except for one cheeky bear who is still hiding somewhere outside. 🧐 For our friends within 15km you can go on your own bear hunt to try to spot the bear who is expected to be in a new spot until Sunday

Check out these cuties... These native Masked Lapwings aka Plovers caused a bit of fuss today when they flew the nest. Mum and Dad were a little fiesty and extremely noisy, but with some direction from Wildlife Victoria the family have now been reunited and moved to a safe spot in the gardens.
As the weather turns cooler, look to the Old Cheese Factory to hire for all your family functions, children birthday parties and special occasions.
