Lightning and Landscapes

Lightning and Landscapes Photographs of the world as I see it, with storms, lightning, Mountains, landscapes and the numerous local performers that move with such grace and speed

Lightning and Landscapes is my business name. I take photos of Lightning, Lightning Quick Sport (Fencing) and Landscapes. I am not a portrait photographer, although some people appear in my photos. I am a photographer that captures the split second, the image that shows the lightning strike, the sword hit or the sunset, caught at the moment that shows exactly how I see it, and how you would have t

oo if you were standing with me...

I prefer natural stances and images. I won't make anyone pose to be in a photo, I don't encourage it. If you are there and in the photo, you better not give me a cheesy grin, I want you as you, not as some weird person that comes out in front of a camera. You can't hire me for weddings, parties etc, etc. I take photos of things that I love, and hope that on the way, you get to appreciate them too. I currently sell my images on 500px and redbubble.

Been a while between posts. Still taking photos, just haven’t been posting. Aurora is the current “focus”, which means darkness and light are significant. One photo was last night, the other was earlier in the year. Looking south both times.

Raptor on a fence Post. One of the sights around my new location...

It has been a while since the last post, but rural living seems to have a lot of extra chores that I didn't know I had.... but that is what happens when you slow down, you get into a new groove.

Hmmm. Michelago gets cold. Oh, well.

The Michelago Music Muster was a top event held last night. Apart from the Rain that Dene Burton - Guitarist seemed to have brought with him from Victoria, it was a typical Winter's evening, with "fresh" breezes. Michelago Region Community Association, Be proud of yourselves. Great food, drink and awesome fire barrels.

Stewie Barton Music and Ivy Lane provided great music for the evening, Stewart Barton tried out his new guitar, which was awesome, there were songs to sing to and appreciate and I had an absolutely great night.

Stewart learned an important lesson about fingerless gloves - they are a good idea when playing the guitar, and I sacrificed my warm hands so that he could play in a bit of comfort.

Alicia was dancing - I guess the semi trailer stage was cold?

Great to see Barbara L Fleming and Meryl Hinge, and the "Bar" was run by the Alpine Hotel, Cooma.

The hot food was welcomed, and I had two of the lamb rolls. There must have been a secret to how the lamb was cooked. It was so tender and virtually fat free.

If you didn't make it, buy your thermals for the next Music Muster now, it is a great little town with a festival that will definitely be on next year.

Tidbinbilla Walking series - I learned something important about clothes. Red shirts are great for flame robins, but every other bird, critter and lizard sees a bloke in a red shirt as a predator, probably. All except one inquisitive mammal, I don't know what it was.

Tidbinbilla - January 1, 2022. This was a return to sacred ground, where we had missed our walks and seeing the critters that live in the sanctuary.

The Cunningham Skinks made an appearance, only one, but the others were probably close by.

Not a lot of humans, but there were a couple, loud noises were pretty scarce as they probably sought shade to cool hangovers.

Only when editing did I notice the bright dragonfly who seemed to prefer the turtle shell as a resting spot, its filament wings folded neatly on its back.

There was a cry of "A Turtle on a rock!", but my companion could be forgiven as it was the first we'd seen in a while. In that particular pond, the only turtle as the others leapt off their logs....

2019 to 2021. These are the photos that I missed putting up, that I waited a while to edit, that for whatever reason, didn't get shared. There are lightning shots, landscapes and the ever present nature shots. While the page has been quiet this year, here are a range of missed photos that I looked at, moved on and didn't share at the time.

To all of my followers, and likers of the page, these past couple of weeks have been madness leading up to the holidays. I’ve taken a few photos, but haven’t uploaded them yet.

This will change soon, and 2022 hopefully will be filled with colours, landscapes and moments of photographic reflection. Haven’t been to a gig in a while, but that’s mainly due to what’s going on round the country. And the world.

Have a great break and celebrate the time of year with family and friends.
