The original premise for the show DEMOLISH, was to bring two women elders together to walk country, here on Dja Dja Wurrung land. One a Dja Dja Wurrung elder whose ancestors have always walked this country and the other a land owner whose family ties to this land go back to the 1860’s. We were never sure if this would actually happen. It did! And here they are, Aunty Linda Ford and Christine Rowe, two strong women, about the same age, with two very different stories. Walking country and listening to these women on Christine’s property that has been farmed by four generations of women and at Aunty Linda’s beloved Bendigo Creek, actually changed the direction of the show. Their words are the quiet truth that book end DEMOLISH.

As local residents (from the town of Clunes), co-creators Rebecca Russell and Ken Evans are well versed in the region’s golden history and its economic lineage of nuggets, farming and tourism. “The gold rush is something that’s celebrated, and there’s references to it everywhere,” Russell observes, “but one of the things I found most interesting when we first moved here was that it was difficult to find stuff about the First Nations people here.”
