Sharing Country
The painting Sharing Country tells the story of County, your animal’s groups and guides. Scattered across the land and Country, Kangaroos, Echidnas, Possums, Magpies, Owl’s, Bees, Butterfly’s and meany more animals shear the Land, Waters and Skies. Most importantly Bunjil the wedged tale eagle, the creator. All of these animals help guide, connect and teach us about ourselves, Country and each other. Far in the background lay strong and powerful Mountains, Leanganook, Lalgmbook and Tarrengower. Surrounded by the animals are three main meeting places. Meeting places are where we share, learn, and listen to each other and our stories.

Artist statement
Through this I wanted to explore and reflect on my time in Bridgewater (Dja, Dja Wurrung Country). As a family wed often go to Bridgewater to relax and reflect on memories and what was going on in our lives at the time. This time would always ground us and bring us together. As we sat along the bank of the Gunbungerro River (Loddon River) we would look look for Platypus, unfortunately we still haven't see one but we always dream of seeing on in it's natural habitat one day. Along the bank in the painting I have kangaroo tracks to represent my family's Mob, Palawa. I have also included meeting places to represent my family and our connection to country.

Artist statement:
'Through this piece I wanted to show the different colours and textures of the rock pools. For thousands of years my people from the Palawa clan in Tasmania have used rock pools as a natural source of food and shell collecting. I have been very fortunate to have been taught the thousand year old practice of traditional weaving by the very talented Auntie Marilyne Nicholls'.
