One of the best parts of running Lyptus Art is seeing my work leave the screen and find its place in real homes.

What starts as a photograph captured out in nature eventually becomes part of someone’s everyday life. Hanging beside a favourite teddy in this example! Mick tells me “A beautiful work that takes me to the forest where I spend many hours every week.”

The artwork has been finished in a beautiful Australian Oak frame, which brings such warmth and softness to the piece while letting the colours do the talking.

After receiving so many requests, Australian Oak framing will soon be available as an option on the Lyptus website.

Thank you to everyone who shares photos of their artwork once it’s on the wall. Every image reminds me why I started Lyptus in the first place. 🤍

But while we’re here, here’s one of my favourite art-hanging hacks…

The secret to choosing the right size artwork for your wall? Frogtape. 🐸

It’s the same tape painters use, so it’s gentle on walls and paint. Simply measure out the dimensions of the artwork you’re considering, tape the outline onto your wall, and step back. Instantly you’ll be able to see how much space the piece will take up before you buy.

A cheap, easy trick that can save you from ordering artwork that’s way too small (or unexpectedly enormous) for your space.

Coming back round to sketching on paperbark. Turns out there are pros and cons like with everything in life. Make a mistake? Just peel back some layers and start again. The negative? The mess 😬…. Still fine tuning this art form!!

Keeping it real and keeping it still!! SM apps want us to scream to be heard, but I think there is so much more power in the quiet.

I dislike (and suck at) chopping my art into video clips, or slapping text over a moment that speaks perfectly well for itself.

I create because I love the stillness of the natural world, and I share it for the people who want to slow down and actually see it.

Stuff instagram, its algorithms and aesthetic trends. I’ll be over here, keeping it real, and keeping it still.
