Bello Winter Music Promoters of The Mullum Music Festival are thrilled to announce the 6th 'Bello Winter Music' Festiva

BELLO WINTER MUSIC, a weekend music festival (Thur Jul 6–9) is the perfect getaway to warm your musical hearts this winter. Come join some incredible international, national and local acts that will light up the pubs, halls and street corners of the beautiful, picturesque town of Bellingen on the NSW Mid North Coast. Following a similar format to its much loved summer sister festival, The Mullum M

usic Festival, Bello Winter Music takes place throughout the many delightful (and cozy!) venues of Bellingen, including The Memorial Hall, Diggers Tavern, No 5 Church St, The Bellingen Golf Club, and St Margaret’s Church Hall, spilling out into the streets and cafes for a family-friendly, affordable weekend of music, celebration and community. As well as the music, Bello Winter Music comes alive with street theatre, workshops, free events

"Bellingen has a similar counter-culture to Mullumbimby; it's just back from the coastal tourist destinations and it’s a naturally beautiful area.” says Glenn Wright, director of Bello Winter and Mullum Music Festival. “Just like Mullumbimby, Bellingen has a diverse community, a long history of environmentalism and a vibrant local music scene. Both festivals are dedicated to programming new and emerging artists - local, national and international - and I’m sure like Mullum, Bello will become ‘one to watch’ for exciting new acts.”

“Creating a partner winter festival in Bellingen rather than expanding Mullum Music Festival means another community can reap the benefits of a small scale, community run festival. The Bellingen community is deeply involved in every aspect of the festival. It has been inspiring working with them to create a unique, authentic celebration of their town.”

Situated roughly half way between Brisbane and Sydney and 30 minutes from Coffs Harbour, Bellingen sits in a spectacular countryside on the banks of the Bellinger River. Small cottages line the river, and a host of bed and breakfast guesthouses can be found close to the town as well as eco huts and farmstay accommodation options. Camping is also available at the nearby Bellingen Showgrounds for the duration of the festival, and bookings can be made through the festival office. Bello Winter Music is the perfect excuse to get away for a weekend and shake off the winter blues...

NOT TO BE MISSED THIS SUNDAY MARCH 24th at Bellingen Memorial Hall!

Yirinda combine ancient Aboriginal language with sublime modern production. Fred Leone and Samuel Pankhurst’s music invokes thousands of generations of story and culture, while emerging as something entirely new.

Fred is one of three Butchulla Songmen – a song and language custodian for the Butchulla people from the Fraser Coast region of Queensland, including K’gari (formerly known as Fraser Island). He sings the songs on this album in the endangered Butchulla language, now spoken by only a handful of people. Samuel is an internationally acclaimed contrabassist/producer known for his kaleidoscopic harmonies and polyrhythmic mastery.

Yirinda are touring nationally, with their band, to promote their new, self-titled album, which is out now.

🎉Big love & Congratulations to our friend and master musician Greg Sheehan on the release of his book 'The Rhythm Diaries'... the ultimate handbook for creatives...

THE RHYTHM DIARIES OF GREG SHEEHAN
Capturing celebrated Australian percussionist Greg Sheehan’s visionary rhythmic systems, artworks, and life stories into one unique offering, The Rhythm Diaries is the ultimate handbook for creatives.

Containing more than 300 pages of original graphic music charts, techniques, games, and adaptive templates, The Rhythm Diaries contains a treasure trove of wonderful vivid designs, literally millions of possible future rhythms and is an invaluable resource for fun and learning.

Decades of performance and education experience are presented in a format that offers as much to seasoned professionals as to kids, beginners, and hobbyists.

Alongside exploring Sheehan’s rhythmic studies, The Rhythm Diaries explores body percussion, rhythms in nature, children’s rhythmic games, original techniques for practising, composing and improvisation, plenty of inspiring designs and more numbers than anyone will ever need! Not just for drummers, but for players of all instruments and anyone curious to discover the world of rhythm.

Sheehan’s teachings have influenced and moulded numerous leaders in the Australian music community—many of whom generously offer their songs and creations influenced by his legacy for inclusion in the book.

The diversity of these contributions is a pure testament to the potential for creative growth that Sheehan’s genius offers to those who have the good fortune to come across it.

‘The Rhythm Diaries serves as a reference and an invaluable tool for musicians and practitioners of music from all disciplines.’ — Nigel Westlake (Hon) D Mus, Composer, Conductor.

‘Astounding Musicianship!’ —John Shand. SMH.
‘Time Lord’ —Shane Howard.

Help create Australia’s largest Mobile Wildlife Hospital.

The bushfire crisis of 2019-20 killed over 1 billion native animals. Whole populations were decimated, often because specialist wildlife rescue and medical care facilities were not able to get to the priority areas.

A team of Australian vets plan to create Australia’s largest mobile wildlife hospital dedicated to the treatment and rehabilitation of injured native Australian wildlife. It’s
going to be based in Byron Bay, and be able to go to injured wildlife during a crisis like a bushfire.

Through crowdfunding, they’ve raised $355,000 of the $520,000 needed to build, staff and operate the Mobile Wildlife Hospital, but need your help to get to their target.

You can make a tax deductible donation to their crowdfund campaign at www.chuffed.org/wildlifehospital and learn more via their website www.byronbaywildlifehospital.org

💔2020 Bello Winter Music festival cancelled.

Due to the evolving situation with the Covoid19 pandemic and current restrictions on gatherings, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of our 6th Bello Winter Music Festival, which was to take place 9-12 July 2020 throughout the NSW Mid North Coast town of Bellingen.

Ticket holders will be contacted and refunded.

“We are so disappointed for the artists, the workers, the ticket holders and the town of Bellingen. Unfortunately we can’t see any way around the cancelation, We did look at the option of postponing but decided that promoting an event in the current health emergency, with no clear end in sight, was not possible in our situation,” said Festival Director Glenn Wright.

Red Square Music would like to thank all of our venues, artists announced so far, staff, our loyal patrons, ticket buyers and the community of the Bellingen Shire for their ongoing support, and we look forward to presenting our 6th event in 2022, after the planned refurbishments of the Memorial Hall precinct.

Please stay tuned for updates and further information on our socials pages and website www.bellowintermusic.com

We wish everybody well during these uncertain times.

Bello Winter Music Festival Update - 17th March 2020

With the new Australian events and gatherings restrictions now in place, we continue to monitor and assess the situation of COVID-19 in Australia.

As our 6th Bello Winter Music festival is due to take place in July 2020, we are at this stage proceeding with arrangements and organising of our event, and continue to work with the advice and guidelines as set out by the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC), New South Wales Health and our governments to consider and ensure the general health and safety of patrons, artists and staff in the lead to and at the event in July 2020.

We will continue to monitor and update our patrons of this situation weekly, with next update 24th March. If the event is cancelled full refunds will be made within 7 days of cancellation.
