Dashville is a secluded bushland venue located within Wonnarua land, at Lower Belford in the Hunter Valley, NSW. Over the last 17 or so years, the Johnston family, led by the rather energetic son Matt 'Magpie' and the help of many, have worked tirelessly to turn a natural bush paddock into a beautiful outdoor arena and camping area all based around his desire for live music events. The long runnin

g boutique music and art event The Gum Ball the largest event at the site with around 3000 campers, was first held in 2005 and is respected as one of Australia's greatest boutique music festivals. A glorious achievement to establish a grass roots festival, it goes without saying that a monumental amount of blood sweat and tears has gone into such an achievement. Based on the slow sustainable growth of these Dashville run events, various facilities have been afforded at the site, such as showers, underground power, shelters, toilets, bars, light towers, roads etc which now allow other events to happen much easier. There is also a 22ft wide x 5tf high skateboard ramp at the site. The camping scenario is all natural clean flat bush land and accessible for wheelchairs. If you would like to consider Dashville as a venue for your next public or private function, then please feel free to drop us a line for further info.

These days the world moves pretty fast, but during the pandemic, we had time to make Dashville TV. Which in a whirlwind turn of events, through a humble segment that Magpie produced, titled ‘I love My Backyard’ (ft. Buddy Dingo classic song) led us to meet the amazing Noona. We’re saddened to hear that Noona passed away this week, and so we cherish this simple moment we captured and share it with fondness for all who knew her…or wish they did. On behalf of all of us here at Dashville, we send our love and condolences to her family and friends. RIP the legend, Noona 🌹

Hey legends! Dashville needs a bit of legal advice (planning law) and we’re hoping there might be someone out there in the audience who values what we do and can help us??

It’s regarding our future council development approval to run the regional live music venue and long running festivals beyond 2027.

So yeh…Universe please help! Is there any live music loving lawyers out there?? who can spare a moment to help determine some definitions of key zoning terms within the LEP, as we pave our way to secure the venue and our festivals future beyond 2027.

As for everyone else… keep on chooglin’

Mama Kin Spender is bringing The SINGING ROADSHOW to Dashville this November 7!! An extension of their sold out annual Choir Camps, this traveling, mini festival is an all-in, sing along, song and story-telling bonanza.

Joined by country darling and #1 chart-topper Emily Lubitz, the show features a rare reprisal of Mama Kin & Emily’s beloved 2012 Folk/Americana collaboration, We Two Thieves.

This sweet mix of performances interspersed with group singing where everyone becomes the choir. Joining Mama Kin Spender and emily_lubitz on easy to learn songs and harmonies and together we’ll create one big, beautiful communitas. A little bit of chaos, some collective joy and a whole lot of love.

Head to the Dashville website for tickets, to come along and join the band!

At Dashville we recycle our cans and use the money to purchase backline (music gear) for our festivals to reduce overheads and ease the burden on people needing to bring gear out to the bush. So drink responsibly folks, and use those yellow bins with pride, knowing you’re contributing to a greater good. Thrashville welcomes you with open arms and values your hard earned thirst and contribution to the live music ecosystem 👏👊🏻👉🍻🔊🦋🤟🏻🥰

Friends of Dashville, please join us for a very special evening in Maitland next Friday 15th May. It’s the launch party, for our amazing festival photographer Renae Saxby , with her long awaited Solo Exhibition - Fire Scars at Maitland Regional Art Gallery, 6-8pm with an artist talk at 6.30pm

Emerging from a period of deep grief and prolonged illness, Fire Scars is a powerful and very personal display which moves between outer landscape and inner terrain, bound beautifully by the healing presence of fire.

Photography from top end cultural burns in East Arnhem Land to raging bush fires in the Barrington, it’s an immersive experience accompanied by film and sound.

If you can’t make the launch party, we encourage you to come check out the exhibition any day from now until 14 June.

🗓 Exhibition: 28 April – 14 June
🎉 Launch: Friday, 15 May (6pm arrival for 6.30pm start)
📍 Maitland Regional Art Gallery
