Originally from Regional NSW, Sebastian Perri is a painter and muralist based at his home studio Queanbeyan. His work distorts the recognisable landscapes of skate parks and surf breaks, rendering them into their simplest forms. Layer upon layer, composition, perspective and colour are abstracted through airbrushed line. The closer the viewer approaches, the more the lines dissolve and the less familiar the image becomes.

Since completing a fine arts degree in painting at the Canberra School of Art and Design, Sebastian has spent 25 years sharing his practice as a teacher, trainer and assessor. He has exhibited extensively along the NSW coast and recently returned to Canberra, where his work is held in local collections.

Sebastian's work features in our offsite exhibition 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘳 𝘓𝘦𝘴𝘴, a group exhibition about the relationship between scale, quantity and the awe an artwork can stir, presented across three Suburban Land Agency display homes in Whitlam.

See the exhibition Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm.

It was such a thrill to present "Bonegilla-The migrants' journey" at the Belconnen Arts Centre in Canberra on Friday night. Because it sold out, I took the risk and hastily organised another show for the Sunday afternoon. Within 5 days, that show sold out as well.
It seems there is an insatiable appetite for these post war migrant stories and the crowds that come out just want to share their own experiences or if it's their elders that have passed away, to live vicariously through the interviewees on the screen.

It appears like we are going to head back to Canberra soon, as there are still people wanting to purchase tickets despite the two sell outs!!!

Funny, unnerving and relentlessly suspenseful, 𝘑𝘰𝘣 is one of the most talked-about new plays of recent years. It holds a mirror to our hyper-connected world, exploring online identity, cancel culture, surveillance, artificial intelligence, corporate responsibility and the fragile line between our digital and real selves.

Mockingbird's latest production runs for one week only, 9–12 September.
