Golden Horseshoes Festival

Golden Horseshoes Festival Experience the charm of Beechworth at the Golden Horseshoes Festival, held annually over the Easter long weekend.

Enjoy the Easter Saturday grand parade, family fun, vibrant markets, live entertainment, and community spirit. The GOLDEN HORSESHOE FESTIVAL is Beechworth’s most vibrant & fun-filled annual event. It celebrates the legend of Daniel Cameron who in 1855 memorably led a parade through the streets of Beechworth on a horse shod with shoes of real gold. Cameron, a political candidate to the Victorian Le

gislative Assembly, proved a hit with the locals who fittingly elected him to the State’s first parliament in front of the Star Theatre. Each Easter Saturday, the old legend is re-enacted with the tradition of shoeing a horse with golden shoes, (yes real gold) and a Grand Parade led by a rider reminiscent of Daniel Cameron. This must see event is annually witnessed by thousands of visitors enjoying the history, music and fun of the Golden Horseshoes Festival. The Beechworth Golden Horseshoes Festival is traditionally the biggest annual festival on the Beechworth calendar with plenty of activities that everyone is sure to love.
