BOX (abstraction) by Frank Burgers is an oil on linen painting full of light vibrancy and the history of Western Art. To view it up close is another whole experience. Scratchy dry brush strokes, glossy oily areas of pure pigment obscuring underpainting, but only just. Geometric shapes with blurred edges and paint cleverly not quite meeting the suggested edge one would assume would be met. The gently jarring hues against the variations of shadows and dark tones do not obscure the overall cubist composition, yet allow the artist to make his own contemporary homage to Braque Picasso et al.

This work measures 101 × 76cm finished with a bespoke native timber frame made by Burgers. A truely fabulous statement piece available for purchase. DM to place on hold with flexible payment plans available.

Next up at the gallery is FRANK BURGERS.

I first met Frank when he ran the art materials store in Wangaratta and invited me to a show he was having in Chiltern at ELVERY gallery. Many moons later, he now lives in Geelong and has a brand new body of work to showcase in our region!

Last chance to purchase a stunning painting by BROOKE WHELAN from the exhibition STREETS OF OUR TOWN.

This exhibition has been thoroughly enjoyed by locals, regional visitors and tourists to the region. Thankfully it is not too late to acquire a wonderful painting by a talented local.

Divine Intervention, is a beautiful painting by Brooke Whelan. Compositionally it captures a little church in Stanley, 10 minutes from Beechworth. A colourful kite is being flown by an unknown bystander. Its red long tail leads the eye to the vibrant similar hue of the autumnal leaves of an adjacent tree. But it's the shadows depicted that really suggest the atmospheric content of this work. This acrylic painting measures 74 cm x 54 cm and is framed in natural oak perfectly resolving this gorgeous painting.

Brooke Whelan is a local Beechworth artist and her painting is currently causing some excitement in our region. Her work is also featured in the Brisbane Art Fair as represented by Tyger Gallery, Yass. Brooke has been working consistently hard and deserving of success.

It's the last few weeks to see her first solo exhibition at Beechworth Contemporary Art Space; a collection of local scenes, including this work Divine Intervention.
