The Allegri Singers was originally formed in 1978, within the then Mitchell College of Advanced Education (now the Bathurst campus of Charles Sturt University). It gradually evolved into the wholly community-based choir that it is today, and is affiliated with the Mitchell Conservatorium of Music. The Allegri Singers is primarily a classical choral ensemble, although we do sing a variety of musica
l styles, from sacred choral works through to show tunes, jazz standards and Broadway hits. Since 2006 the choir has been under the musical direction of William Moxey, a distinguished professional musician who specialises in teaching singing and choral production. The choir frequently collaborates with other ensembles, including the Bathurst Chamber Orchestra and the Macquarie Philharmonic Orchestra, and with other choirs including the Orange Regional Conservatorium Symphonic Choir, the Cudgegong Choir (Mudgee) and the Willoughby Singers. Allegri Singers is an incorporated not-for-profit association, which is self-funded through choristers fees, profits from concerts, and community fundraising. The choir rehearses every Tuesday evening during the school term, from 6.30-8.30 pm. New members are always welcome!
