Our 2025 highlight, performance CONTRIBUTARIES, was an engagement with Geelong City Hall that explored a community-led connective experience during the inaugural ROAM Geelong on 11 October. Our diverse creative practices and stories came together in a narrative that honoured the life-giving power of water and advocated for the continuous flow of rivers.

Creative Occupation artist collective sends a heartfelt thanks to the ROAM Geelong photographers for capturing these stunning images! đź’§

See us at ROAM Geelong!

ROAM Geelong is where joy, curiosity and imagination come to life for one unmissable day, as Geelong’s cultural heart becomes a playground of art, music, theatre and connection. As day turns to night, hundreds of artists transform the city with performances, installations and exhibitions - mostly free and suitable for all ages.

Creative Occupation will participate with our new performance, CONTRIBUTARIES, that celebrates water. Find us at City Hall.

'Distorted Truth' installation is running for the last days at the Third Space Gallery + Digital, 132 Lt. Malop Street, Geelong. We present this work as a proud member of Creative Geelong.
'Distorted Truth' was launched on Friday 30 May 2025, at MAY’D Arts Festival at Creative Geelong. Some of the interactive imagery captured on the night was incorporated into the reflective projections of the installation.
Exhibition continues until 8 August 2025 at Third Space Gallery + Digital, a 24/7 window gallery space.

Using mirrors and light, 'Distorted Truth' is an abstracted installation and reflective activation that challenges the viewer to resist manipulation and look for the “glitch.” It considers images portrayed in digital media that have the potential to be distorted as they are shared and adapted. Meanings can be altered. Truth - fictionalised.

We enjoyed running this experimental work with its circling projections. Much appreciation to Jennifer McElwee for the concept and installation, Michael Morgan for projections and tech, Jessica Laraine Williams for choreography/voice, James Caution for sound, as well as 'robotic' performers - Jennifer, along with Ingrid Petterson, Jessica Connor Kennedy and Marita Batna.

Thank you again to all visitors at the launch event and all viewers of the installation.
