Yesterday was an incredibly special afternoon in the Windsong Pavilion for Women Who Dared. The Streeton Trio gifted us a truly transportive classical program, bringing to life iconic masterworks by brilliant and resilient female composers across the ages.

Woven throughout the music were the stories of these remarkable women, shared by founder Emma Jardine, taking us behind the works and into the lives of those who created them.

We heard tales of phoenixes rising and swan maidens falling. From F***y Mendelssohn, Felix’s older sister, whose groundbreaking and complex compositions were largely confined to performances within the family home, to Australian great Elena Kats-Chernin, who embraced experimentation, weaving folkloric tales into richly expressive tonal works. It was a powerful afternoon celebrating women who dared to create, challenge convention and leave their mark on the musical canon.

Thank you to the artists of The Streeton Trio Streeton Trio for such a moving and inspiring performance. Thank you Emma, Ying and Minah.

MEET THE ARTISTS OF WOMEN WHO DARED | Minah Choe

Based in Sydney, Minah is an accomplished and sought-after cellist, regularly performing with the Sydney Symphony and Opera Australia Orchestra, having served as acting associate principal, and appearing widely in chamber music programs. She is a member of Mirabella Trio and has performed with Trio Novalis and the Schubert Society; her duo partnership with pianist Daniel Herscovitch has presented many recitals across New South Wales. Minah has recorded for ABC Classic FM and 2MBS FM, and for Heritage Records (London) and Wirripang.

Born in Seoul, Korea, Minah Choe began studying cello at age eight. Her talent earned her early admission to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music while still at high school, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours. She was a full scholarship holder at the Australian National Academy of Music and received her master’s degree from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, studying with Professor János Starker. She continued doctoral study as his teaching assistant and completed a Doctor of Musical Arts at the Sydney Conservatorium.

Minah has appeared as a soloist with several orchestras, including the Sydney Symphony, Christchurch Symphony, Indiana University Philharmonic and the Nizhny-Novgorod Philharmonic. She has won numerous awards, including the inaugural János Starker Scholarship, the “Most Promising Performer” award at the 4th Adam International Cello Competition, and the Australian Postgraduate Award.
A dedicated educator, Minah currently teaches at The King’s School and Sydney Grammar School. She plays on a cello by Joseph Hel (1869).

MEET THE ARTISTS OF WOMEN WHO DARED | Ying Ho

Ying Ho has performed as soloist and chamber musician across Australia, UK, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and America. A recipient of the prestigious Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music International Scholarship, she studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Universität der Künste in Berlin, and the Sydney Conservatorium.

Ying has won many prizes and scholarships including the Else Cross (Brahms) Prize, the Maud Hornby Memorial Prize, and the Sydney Conservatorium Concerto Competition. She has performed with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Youth Orchestra, the Western Australian Youth Orchestra, and the Willoughby Symphony. An active chamber musician, she has performed in many festivals including the Prussia Cove International Musicians Seminar, and the Duo Sonata Program at the Lausanne Academie de Musique in Switzerland. Ying is currently Head of Keyboard at MLC School and is also on the faculty of the Collaborative Piano department at the Sydney Conservatorium.

MEET THE ARTISTS OF WOMEN WHO DARED | Emma Jardine

Emma Jardine founded the Streeton Trio, and studied in Switzerland and Germany, performing internationally as a chamber musician and soloist. A former violinist of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, she has toured extensively and won numerous awards.

Founded in 2008 in Geneva, Switzerland, the Streeton Trio is Australia’s most internationally successful piano trio. Winners of the 2011 Musica Viva Chamber Music Competition, the trio has been laureates of prestigious international competitions and received support from the Australia Council for the Arts, Arts Victoria, and the Ian Potter Cultural Trust. They have performed at Wigmore Hall (London), Het Loo Royal Palace (Holland), and Shanghai Oriental Arts Centre (China), among other esteemed venues.

Hello everyone!

It’s been such a joy to be part of the Four Winds community in beautiful Bermagui, and I’m so grateful to everyone who has come to my performances there.

As a classical pianist, I’ve had the incredible privilege of being part of ABC-TV’s The Piano

Bringing music into living rooms around the country has been very special — and a wonderful reminder of how important music and the arts are.

⭐️🎸TWO WEEKS LEFT TO REGISTER! 🎻⭐️

After 7 years, the South Coast Music Camp is back! Open to all orchestral and concert band instrument players of all ages and levels of experience. There’s also a limited number of spots for rhythm sections instruments as well.

SCMC is a non-residential community music camp, running from Monday 28 September - Friday 2 October, 8.30-4pm at Mumbulla School, Bega.

Fees include all tuition and ensemble experience, lunches, morning and afternoon teas and camp T-shirt.

Come along for a week of great music, excellent tuition and plenty of fun. Don’t miss this rare chance to learn from some of Australia’s best musicians, from Acacia Quartet to teachers from the Sydney and Wollongong Conservatoriums.

The program features Orchestral, Concert Band, Choral and Whole Camp Orchestra streams, with electives in improvisation, chamber music and more! The repertoire is designed to expand your musical confidence and develop your individual skills. Created by and for music lovers, the South Coast Music Camp continues to be a welcoming celebration of making music together.

ANNOUNCING: HEATH CULLEN WINDSONG LIVE - THE SONG ALWAYS REMEMBERS (G) | HeathCullen Far South Film Festival

Premiering on Saturday 15 August at the Far South Film Festival, see Heath Cullen: Windsong Live – The Song Always Remembers (G), the first release in Four Winds’ WINDSONG LIVE SERIES.

The film offers a front row seat to this electrifying live performance captured in the Windsong Pavilion in April ‘24, and an intimate portrait of one of Australia’s finest songwriters returning to his home country on the NSW Sapphire Coast.

Directed by award-winning local filmmaker and cinematographer Andrew Robinson, the film features Cullen alongside lifelong collaborators and celebrated local musicians Matt Nightingale (double bass), Jay McMahon (drums) and Pete Wild (piano).

The Song Always Remembers captures the full landscape of Cullen’s four landmark studio albums—from fan favourites Springtime In The Heart and Another Blue World, to the hushed beauty of Woke With The Birds, and the soaring guitar-driven power of Silver Wings and The Paper Boy.

The Windsong Pavilion was packed on Sunday as more than 200 music lovers gathered to experience Fred Leone & Radio for Ghosts in a performance filled with deep soul and big sound.

This moving first look at the debut album saw Fred weave stories from his own life with songs of love, hope, justice, grief, and the everyday moments that remind us of what really matters.

Thank you to everyone who attended, we hope you had a beautiful afternoon with us amongst nature✨

Heartfelt thanks to Fred, Leigh, Heath, Matt and Kade. It was an unforgettable performance, and we’re so grateful for what you shared with us.

A special thank you to Aunty Iris for her Welcome to Country, marking NAIDOC Week and celebrating 50 years of Deadly.

ARTISTS OF FRED LEONE & RADIO FOR GHOSTS | &

Kade Brown is a pianist and composer from the Far South Coast of NSW. He’s become a mainstay of Melbourne’s jazz scene, known for his flair for improvisation and versatility in both traditional and contemporary jazz forms. After returning from Berlin, where he was based while touring extensively throughout Europe in 2023 and 2024, Kade has been composing and performing new music for quartet ahead of recording a new album. 

Matt Nightingale plays bass and guitar and is an in demand session musician based in Canberra. He has over 20 years of experience performing everywhere from pub stages and local halls to TV, festivals and recording studios in LA. He’s opened for Elton John during his Australian tour and regularly performs Jazz, Rock, Country, Blues & Pop.

For one day only, Fred Leone () joins Leigh Roy Ryan () in a striking collaboration of genre-defying soul music ahead of the release of their debut album Fred Leone & Radio for Ghosts. Together, they’ll perform alongside local stars  
Fresh from electric performances at Brisbane Festival and Brunswick Music Festival, the duo brings commanding soul vocals, powerful storytelling, deep rhythms and expressive musicianship in what promises to be a moving afternoon of live music.
