Sea shanties at was a fine haul.

Iain James and I came ashore thinkin’ Boston might be a cold port, not much song in the air... But damn if we weren’t wrong.

Their hearts were loud and their lungs louder.

We had a fiddler, two squeezebox players, and even a hurdy gurdy aboard before the night was done - That’s the kind o’ magic you don’t plan, it just finds you.

And all for a damn good cause - Child's Play. We pulled $2,661.00 USD straight from the pockets of the scallywags in the crowd, both in the flesh and watchin’ from afar.

A fine bit o’ thievin’, all in the name of doin’ some good.

Cheers to first mate Dabe from Penny Arcade for snappin’ these while we were makin’ a glorious mess of it.

Ahoy, ye scallywag crew of buccaneers! Avast!

Ye might be reckonin' that it's been many a moon since we've belted out our beloved sea shanties.

But hoist the mainsail, for thanks to the golden sands of 107 Redfern, we be gatherin' for a grand shanty festivity!

Haul yerself o'er and join the ranks of the Marrickville Shanty Club, Newtown Shanty Club, and Redfern Shanty Club as we raise our voices to the heavens and let 'em roar!

And a mighty cheer to the Mountain Goat Beer for quenchin' our thirsts as we sing out loud and proud! Yo ho ho!

Avast ye mateys! As we've spied in the past years, most shanty singers need a goodly long time to prepare for the voyage to Melbourne (as tall ships do take a fair bit of time).

So although it ain't yet etched in stone, official, or even confirmed - we're scoping out another Shanty singing eve at PAX Aus this year.

If ye be part of a crew keen to join the moot this year, do let us know.

What's Sydney Shanty Club aboat? Well it's a ferry impressive (ex-schooner-sive) club. A place you can sink some drinks, loosten your ties and cast out, adrift in a sea of song. A place where nobody's out of oarder, a place ferry few shipheads attend. There's nowhere we'd RUDDER be.
