Helen McNab is new to the Bannockburn area and makes for a wonderful addition to the art community.
Helen originated in Melbourne where she completed her teaching degree. Personal circumstances and work took her to the Ballarat district, where she has taught for the past 28 years. Art has consistently been a major part of her life in teaching, including some years as an Art Sp
ecialist.
Helen has had a passion for the Visual Arts since a very young age, always drawing and creating. She made jewellery for a time, then learnt to paint in acrylics and oils. Helen has been commissioned to complete numerous paintings, with pet portraiture being a common theme.
Fifteen years ago, Helen also took to mosaicking. She has created a range of mosaics from simple light catchers and table tops, to detailed landscapes and 3-D works. Helen has taught the techniques and skills of mosaicking to both children and adults, as well as completed commission work.
Combining teaching with the Visual Arts is what Helen does best. She develops wonderful relationships with her students and supports them in their learning, with just the right amount of instruction. Helen facilitates creativity and encourages freedom of expression through art. She is able to differentiate activities in order to cater for individual interests.
