CARAVAN CAST SPOTLIGHT 🚌

After a decade away, Amy is thrilled to be back treading the boards with Bankstown Theatre Company. She has been lucky enough to be a part of shows both in Sydney and in London, not only performing but directing, writing and producing too. This year Amy performed in IWTC’s production of Jagged Little Pill, and is now loving getting back to her roots as Gwendolyn in this cheeky and hilarious comedy!

CARAVAN CAST SPOTLIGHT 🚌

Ben has been performing in community theatre since the tender age of 12. His roles have been varied and always given him the opportunity to explore different characters and eras. He has appeared in productions of Shakespeare right through to classic musicals like Jesus Christ Superstar and Chicago. Ben has always looked forward to playing a middle aged man stuck in a caravan with anger management issues while it rains, so it’s like Parkes was written for him.

Gypsy is one of the classics, with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by Arthur Laurents. It is loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of vaudeville artist Gypsy Rose Lee, and focuses on life with “the ultimate show business mother”, Rose. It follows the dreams and efforts of Rose to raise two daughters to perform onstage and casts an affectionate eye on the hardships of show business life.

Featuring songs like “Let Me Entertain You” and “Everything’s Coming Up Roses”, Gypsy has starred iconic names such as Ethel Merman, Angela Lansbury, Bette Midler, Bernadette Peters, Patti LuPone, Imelda Staunton and most recently Audra McDonald in the 2024 Broadway revival.

Come along to orientation night, meet the production team and hear about their visions for this production. You’ll even be able to have early bird priority for audition bookings.
