It feels surreal to be waving goodbye after what was clearly our most successful event ever. The sounds, the sights, the connections, moments, spaces and times. All unmatched and never to be matched again. That was the end.
The sad reality is, despite our best efforts and beyond, the supportive environment required to foster events like Meadow, and subsequently the emerging artists that perform at Meadow, does not exist anymore. This is heartbreaking, as festivals like ours have been absolutely formative for our team; we simply wouldn't be who we are without the experiences we have celebrated, shared and learnt from at music festivals. To imagine a future where these spaces don't exist is hard to even comprehend. There are many challenges ahead to begin to resolve this, but we'll leave that discussion for another day. For the time being, all we can ask is that you continue to support smaller festivals and always advocate for the cultural value they have to offer.
To turn the page, finish the chapter and close our book:
A massive thank you to the Morrow family who provided the festival's home for the last 8 years. We know you'd never accept anything more than a thank you for hosting us, but we will be making a donation to Landcare in your name. We couldn't have asked for more generous hosts.
To our family and friends - your support is endless. There is no chance Meadow could exist without your time and energy. We owe you forever and ever ever. Especially you, Ruby Linn.
To our production crew, and , the shape that our performances took would not have been the same without you. A chance blessing to have met you both 9 Meadow's ago.
To our stage managers Ben and Luke, a big big big commitment.Thank you for planning, coordinating, loading in, on, off and out. On time, most of the time. Legendary.
To our reception managers, Jon and Lily, 1400 smiles later everyone made it into Meadow and that's just this year. Thank you for the hours you spent on the gate greeting weary travellers and welcoming them to our wonderland one last time.
Our designer .studio - so much colour.
