Further show and tell from our talented members

• Liz has framed 2 of her Dorset buttons and embellished with Colonial knots and beads to stunning effect
• Jenni C in her Creative group has printed with gold onto black fabric and then completed with embroidered details, a very rich and glorious piece
• Carla continues her exploration of making new fabric from scrap pieces and has sewn together a stained glass window effect, with the new pieces, onto decorative and useful bags. Will cheer up shoppers in these days of rising prices, well done Carla...

• Liz has framed 2 of her Dorset buttons, and embellished with Colonial knots and beads, to stunning effect..
• Jenni C, in her Creative group, has printed with gold onto black fabric, and then completed the piece with embroidered details..a very rich and glorious piece..
• Carla continues her exploration of making new fabric from scrap pieces, and has sewn a beautiful stained-glass effect, with her finished pieces, onto very handy and decorative bags. Will help cheer up the shoppers in these days of rising prices..well done Carla..

Show and tell at August meeting...as usual, blown away by the range and variety of works and interests in our members offerings 🥰
• Ollie..eco print on wool embellished with embroidery of Rosella family, Mum, Dad and four babies will all be on the finished piece
• Lois...embroidering on indigo hankies, which fell apart, so embroidering them back together for a wall hanging..(Hanky Graveyard)
• Jen S and Sue attended a workshop with Jenni Marie Tempest and made Grevillea...amazing...threads wound round wire and leaves fashioned with free- motion sewing...though Sue whisked hers away before l could photograph it

Judith H Bryce, Fibre Artist, working with raffia and foraged materials, was our inspiring guest speaker, at our August meeting. Indigenous weaving artists have been a great influence, and also Ann Evers, renowned artist from Broken Hill. Judith follows a theme, often about the countryside where she grew up. She uses local, dyed plants and pliable material eg wisteria, to make a firm connection with surrounding land and nature. When Judith stopped secondary teaching, she got more involved with stitching and weaving. She is an inaugural SHAC member, has had many exhibitions, and classes, and meets regularly in weaving groups in people's homes. She was generous in her sharing, and ran an impromptu session after her very informative and enjoyable talk.

Hazel..our visitor, and hopefully new member?..brought her delicate and beautiful needle-lace pieces..stunning ☺️..the bird is worked around floristry wire 👏👏

And a mystery (Rae??) embroidered scroll of very pretty flowers..or have l mixed it up with Liz's scroll...my apologies, but wanted to make sure they were all included 🙁

Two very contrasting techniques ,👏👏

Rae skillfully wove a colourful basket from garden jute (dyed by "someone else") and sash cord...three dimensional, and substantial 😉

While Shelagh showed some delicate ethereal papers she, equally skillfully, made with silk fibres, layered as in felting, and bonded with diluted pva, or textiles medium 😊

Two very unusual show and tell !!

Liz has been making/teaching two traditional types of buttons, Yorkshire buttons made with thick wool, though they can also be made with finer cottons, and Dorset buttons sewn round a metal ring..Beautiful, and tempting 😉

Georgie made herself a pair of leather boots..SO IMPRESSED!! ...at a 4-day workshop, taught by Luna Newby, run by the Rare Trades Centre 😊
