Celebrating Outstanding Service to Our Community

Each year at the UFS All Abilities Performing Arts Showcase, the Royal South Street Society proudly presents the Service to the Community Award to individuals who embody the spirit of inclusion, encouragement and dedication within our All Abilities community.

We are delighted to announce that the 2026 Service to the Community Award recipients are Michelle Worthy and Joel Gills! 🎉👏

Michelle and Joel have made an extraordinary contribution to the All Abilities Performing Arts community through their passion, talent and unwavering support of others. Both continue to inspire performers and audiences alike, sharing their skills, enthusiasm and generosity both on and off the stage.

Their commitment to fostering confidence, connection and participation reflects the very best of what our community stands for, making them truly deserving recipients of this year's award.

What an incredible celebration of talent, creativity and inclusion!

As we wrap up the 2026 UFS All Abilities Performing Arts Showcase, we extend our heartfelt thanks to every performer, teacher, support person, family member, volunteer and audience member who helped make this event so special.

Over three jam packed inspiring days, performers from across our community shared their talents, courage and passion on stage, reminding us all of the power of the performing arts to connect, uplift and empower.

We are incredibly grateful to the dedicated teachers, carers and support teams who encourage, nurture and champion performers throughout their journey. Your commitment creates opportunities for confidence, growth and lifelong participation in the arts.

To every performer who stepped onto the stage: thank you for sharing your talents and inspiring us all. You are the reason this showcase continues to grow and flourish.

To our treasured Royal South Street Society friends and supporters, and to all those who knew and loved the sensational Ron Harrington OAM.

Dawn would like to extend her heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported her and the family following Ron’s passing.

The kindness, love, messages, donations, calls and thoughtful gestures received during this difficult time have meant so much to Dawn and the family.

Ron touched the lives of so many through his wonderful connection with Royal South Street Society and the wider Ballarat community. His warmth, generosity, humour and passion will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Thank you, from Dawn and the family, for your incredible support and for helping them through this very difficult time. ❤️

A moment of pride for the whole RSSS family

We only wish all of our 150+ RSSS volunteers could have been with us last Thursday night when Royal South Street Society was honoured as the 2026 Federation University Commerce Ballarat Business Excellence Awards – Calacare Accessibility and Inclusion Award winner!

And we’re pretty sure we had the loudest cheer in the room! 🎉

For those who couldn’t be there — especially our incredible volunteers — we wanted to share a few professional photographs from the evening.

The pride, the joy and those very big smiles captured in these photos belong to all of you.

This award represents so much more than one night. It reflects the commitment of the people who have worked tirelessly to help RSSS recover from the enormous impact of COVID on the performing arts, navigate the prolonged closure of our premier venue, and continue building a stronger, more inclusive future for our organisation and our community.

There have been challenging years. There has been an extraordinary amount of hard work. There have also been countless moments of determination, generosity, creativity and teamwork.

And through it all, people have continued to believe in RSSS, in the performing arts, and in the difference our organisation makes in the lives of so many people.

To every volunteer, staff member, Board member, supporter, partner, donor and friend who has been part of this journey:

What a thrill it was to attend the Chisholm St Pianists of Royal South Street Concert on Sunday 30 August!

Two outstanding young pianists, hand-selected by Chisholm St owner and operator Bronwyn Blaiklock, shared a gorgeous concert in this beautiful, intimate space, with sunlight and music flowing across the outdoor deck and open lounge. ✨

Both Royal South Street Society and Chisholm St are proudly committed to supporting the journey of talented young performers, creating extended opportunities for performance, experience and growth.

A huge thank you to Bronwyn for making this wonderful opportunity possible, and to Shayla and Chloe for their outstanding performances on the weekend. 🎶👏
