Balaklava Courthouse Gallery Air-conditioned gallery and gift shop. Free Admission. Wheelchair access. Exhibition space is available to all artists. Contact the Curators for more info.

The historic Balaklava Courthouse, built in 1913, was converted into an Art Gallery and Gift Shop when offered to the community. Since the Gallery was opened in 1991, the community has enjoyed regular exhibitions by South Australian artists and craft people. The Gallery is administered by a Management Committee and supervised by volunteers. The Gallery is available for hire for meetings and small

functions. For exhibition space bookings, and enquiries, please contact the Curators:

The Gallery Gift Shop is an outlet for unique and affordable - and mostly handcrafted locally - gifts, art and crafts, on consignment. We welcome enquiries from prospective suppliers, and invite visitors to come to browse and shop. The Balaklava Art Group is a small group of amateur artists who paint together for inspiration and motivation. They meet at the Balaklava Courthouse Gallery on the 1st Tuesday of each month from 10am until "lunchtime-or-later".

A reminder that the gallery is closed this week for the delivery of art prize entries, with normal hours resuming on Wednesday July 1 with the 2O26 Balco Balaklava Art Prize exhibition.

Emerging local artist Tia Barr’s first solo exhibition, ‘Seeing in Black & White’, is up and open to the public today - and looking beautiful in our space. Tia’s detailed graphite drawings, along with new explorations in charcoal, ink, lino print and fabric, centre on observation, memory and the quiet fleeting moments that shape our lives.

You’re invited to join us for the official launch of this charming exhibition on Friday evening May 8th at 6.30pm. Meet the artist and enjoy drinks and nibbles - we’d love to see you!

The exhibition runs until Sunday June 21. Do call in to enjoy Tia’s amazing and thoughtful monochrome works. A lovely moment of quiet in all the busyness of life.
