Balaklava Eisteddfod Society

Balaklava Eisteddfod Society The 30th Balaklava Eisteddfod will be held on Friday 31st July & Saturday 1st of August 2026. Join us in Balaklava SA for this great milestone!

The Balaklava Eisteddfod is held annually at the end of week 2, Term 3 (Public schools term dates). Competitions are held in the areas of Vocal and Instrumental Music and Speech & Drama. JUST WHAT IS AN EISTEDDFOD? EISTEDDFOD .……....... is an ancient Welsh word meaning a "sitting" but now used to describe gatherings of musicians, artists, poets, actors and crafts-people to compete, compare and le

arn from each other. Such gatherings occur in many countries - not the least being Australia. Most thrive where they are most valuable - in country areas that may otherwise miss out on opportunities for people of all ages to discover and nourish artistic talent and interest. The Balaklava community is well known for its encouragement and support of the performing arts. The Balaklava Eisteddfod Society endeavours to:
~ have sections for activities popular in the region
~ have sections for levels of attainment from beginners to advanced
~ be encouraging in spirit, within a supportive environment
~ be designed largely by local teachers and professionals
~ be inexpensive for participants and audiences
~ be reviewed & adjusted to ensure it continues to serve the best interests of the region.

LOST PROPERTY
Did you misplace
> a water bottle
> a small gold heart
> a blue "stress squishy"

Also missing but not found was a black light weight down coat (puffer jacket) somewhere in the Balaklava Town Hall, rolled in a little polyamide cover in the shape of a cylinder.
The coat brand is Serra, the size is 10.
This belongs to a student from Morialta Secondary College at the senior Rock Band section. If anyone picked this up or knows what happened to it, ease let us know.
