Avoca Beach Theatre began in 1948 in the front gardens of brothers Mervyn and Norman Hunter to raise funds to build the Avoca Beach rock pool. In Christmas 1951 the building as it currently stands was build & has continued to change and grow over time. We love to bring the quality film to a discerning audience,

Rich channels Jim Morrison’s baritone, poetry and primal command; Sandy captures Ray Manzarek’s swirling organ, psychedelic carnival sounds and bass keys; Mick brings Robby Krieger’s finger-picked flamenco fire; and Lee drives it with John Densmore’s jazz, rock and Latin pulse.

The Album Show returns with another of this year’s installments of their ‘anniversary’ show. The shows celebrate iconic anniversaries of significant years of music, therefore changing every year!

We now have our “60 Years of 1966” show. This show focuses on the music released or recorded in 1966 from all around the world. Music from a key year of social evolution, and musical styles and popular culture growing, combining and breeding new sounds and styles… characteristics that resonate, now 60 years later.

1966 was a critical year in music history. Pop music was evolving and artist were seeking out the ‘next sound’. We see a move away from simple beat music to pop music incorporating soul, blues and the first stages of the new rock music. With artists like The Beatles, the Beach Boys, The Who, Dusty Springfield, The Kinks, The Four Tops, Bob Dylan and many many more, it proved to be a pivotal year in the move towards the psychadelia, hard rock and beyond of the late 60’s.

With a 5 piece band, striking visuals and a little bit of a history lesson, The Album Show will present a showcase of as many of these iconic tracks as possible in a 2 set, 2 hour plus show!
