We relocated to 7/19 Hotham Pde (across the road from our old site) during mid 2018. Our showroom is smaller than our previous showrooms and only a small quantity of our extensive range is on display, however, our range has and continues to increase and we are happy to show you any items you are interested in when visiting us.

He is not alone in that thought as KG from Tassie let us know:

We agree with comments about the lack of custom classics and rods built by manufacturers. Here are some we have built, mainly, apart from a couple.

Peter recently send us this email and we thought the NSW long weekend was the perfect time to show you, to either inspire you what to do this weekend or wish you were a neighbour of Peter's.

Peter ended his email with "I hope you enjoy the photos" - simple answer YES INDEED! We hand it over to him.

I always enjoy your Show and Tell feature each newsletter and decided it was time I sent some photos of my track.

The track was built back in 2016 over a period of 12 months with help from my good friends and neighbours.

With limited storage area in my garage I built a motorised folding mechanism to support a 4 x 2 metre track layout. The original track was 25 metres in length, and includes a suspension bridge to enable crossover for a loop within a loop track layout taking full advantage of the limited area available.

The track is controlled by Race Coordinator software, along with a few custom screens of our own. The track has 86 handcrafted LED street lights, adjustable braking system on all controllers, 6 call buttons, custom dead strips, dual power supplies and a wireless network serving trackside tablets.

A year later we added a 6 metre extension to create a 9 metre straight. There is nothing better than drivers holding triggers at full throttle and seeing cars speeding down the straight, headlights ablaze, leaving a trail of shimmering red tail lights.

Here’s what 25 years addiction looks like. 😊

Prior to this I used to race wing cars back in the 70’s, before the hobby went into decline. Ironically, it was Armchair that got me back into the sport when I found your shop in Lane Cove and drooled over the range of cars available. Jim convinced me to come back and attend the regular races and I haven’t looked back since. I still have the Parma controller that I used back in the 70’s, slightly modified now.

Over the years I’ve made some great friends due to this hobby (addiction?) and now enjoy racing with the CARRACE guys in Canberra, as well as racing at some of the national races across NSW and Victoria.

To me it’s more than a hobby. It’s a chance to catch up with friends, brag about how fast our ‘out of the box’ cars are and check out what new cars are coming out.

Just don’t tell the wife.

No, seriously, she’ll do nasty things to me if she knew how much I’ve spent over the years. 😊

Cheers
Paul

It's been 10 months hard work since purchasing a new property in Nelson, NZ. I've finally got new track up and running.

The Revo Mustang GTO on the track arrived last week, and I just got going today. Goes very nicely too!

Mark sent us a message advising he would like to say to the manufacturers out there, that they need to maybe think of other tastes in types of cars.
I realised that cars made, always seem to be Ferrari, Porsche, and lots of race cars. Nothing against that, it's great. But myself, and possibly a lot of other slot car enthusiasts would like to see more hot-rods, customs, etc. Interesting to see what others think.
Below are a few cars I built many years ago, using 1:32 kits.

Funnily enough Armchair Racer actually reached out to Carrera earlier this year to redo their magnificent hot-rods that they did 20 years ago and we received this reply:
We reviewed the moulds, but they are not in a condition for a production re-run.
Also, some of the hot-rods would require new license contracts.
Finally we don’t see a significant demand, they are nice to have, but it is not so easy to just produce. Sorry.
