It is super exciting to be working with Martini on 'The Dumb Waiter'. In 2023 Martini worked as a costume designer for 'The Winters Tale', and I am beyond pleased to get to collaborate on another project with this incredible artist.

Martini is a Sydney-born Interior Designer and Artist whose career has taken her from London to New York City before settling in beautiful Armidale with her two young children. Drawn to the region by its vibrant creative community, she continues to explore the intersection of art, design, atmosphere through her work.

Looking forward to sharing more about the design soon!!

It’s wonderful to be working with Asher Goldzieher on The Dumb Waiter.

Asher has collaborated with Empty Space Productions since 2022, working as Assistant Stage Manager on Fools for Love (2022) and The Winter’s Tale (2023). He has also worked with the University of New England as an actor, helping create video scenarios to support Education students preparing for their practical placements.

In 2026, Asher takes on the role of Stage Manager, working closely with our cast and creative team to bring Nobel laureate Harold Pinter’s sharp-witted masterpiece to Armidale audiences. Theatre gives us space to be challenged by the world we’re living in, and The Dumb Waiter holds a mirror up to modern times, where misinformation can pass for fact and questioning is framed as disruption.

Lisa Goldzieher is an Armidale based actor, writer, director and producer, and the founder of Empty Space Productions. Since launching in 2022, Lisa has produced nine performance events, collaborating with theatre makers, musicians, designers, writers, performance artists and community organisations.

Lisa’s directing credits include Blackrock, Love Let Me Out, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth. In 2015, she undertook a directing internship with Bell Shakespeare on John Bell’s production of The Tempest.

Lisa is excited to return to the rehearsal room to direct Pinter’s absurdist comedy, The Dumb Waiter, exploring how routine and humour can become instruments of pressure and power.

I am equally thrilled to get to work with the tremendously talented and delightful Jonathon McAteer again.

The first and last time I worked with Jono as an actor and director was in 2013, when we played Bottom and Titania in UNE's major production 'A Midsummer Nights Dream' on the lawns of Booloomimbah. It was so much fun! I co directed the show with my wonderful colleague and friend Julie Shearer.

Jono moved to Armidale in 2013 to study a Bachelor of Theatre and Performance at UNE and has been involved in the local theatre scene ever since. Jono performed in Empty Space's first Theatre production 'Fools for Love', an anthology of contemporary scenes (2022) as the menacing Mooney in Martin McDonagh's 'Hangman'. Recent appearances with ADMS include 'Clue' and 'Noises Off', while his recent directing work includes the haunting 'The Woman in Black'.

Passionate about live performance and storytelling, Jono is thrilled to help bring Harold Pinter’s 'The Dumb Waiter' to Armidale audiences and hopes the play leaves viewers with more questions than answers.

It's been a big week working on 'Pig Out', but it is really exciting to be collaborating with all the wonderful creatives working on the production.

Over the last few weeks we have been going through a process of re-imagining Chekhov and Berkoff's texts for contemporary audiences through a collaborative creative development process.

You know you are working with a good photographer when it is hard to choose your favourite shots. I tried to get my top 5, but I landed at 8. Perhaps I would make a different choice tomorrow. I may have gotten bitten by ants and barbed wire through my foot (3 times!), but it was worth it!

Thanks for capturing so much . Looking forward to working with you in the coming months on Empty Space's next show!
