It’s been a busy first month of my residency in Leipzig, filled with painting and studio visits with artists and curators. I’ve been particularly drawn to the wildness of the parks around the city and have spent a lot of time exploring them.

It’s also been a pleasure to see so many works by some of my favourite painters from Saxony, including Neo Rauch, Matthias Weischer, and Caspar David Friedrich.

THE MIRROR
23 January- 14 Feb 2026
Albany Town Hall WA

I’m excited to be heading back West for my upcoming solo exhibition ‘The Mirror’ at the Town Hall Gallery in Albany.

This new body of work draws directly on archival photographs from Albany’s whaling history. Once documents of labour and industry, these archival photographs now carry complex ecological and ethical associations.

If you’re in the Great southern region this summer, please pop in!
I’ll be in the gallery for the opening on Friday 23 Jan at 6pm, and an artist talk on Saturday 24 at 10am.

‘Threshold’ group exhibition and open studio by Khashayar Salmanzadeh and Jarrad Martyn

Opening: Saturday 23rd August 12-4pm

Exhibition Hours: 23 August - 31 August 2025, 12-4pm weekends only

44-46 Bangs Street, Prahran

A Threshold describes a point of transition, where something evolves and transforms.
Both Salmanzadeh and Martyn’s paintings explore the space between abstraction and figuration, exploring a reality that is constantly shifting.
This exhibition of new work invites viewers to reflect on moments of change, to consider what is gained and what is left behind when crossing from one state of being to another. ____________________________
