Today marks 12 years since the “Miracle on the Hudson”. The successful ditching of USAir 1549 in New York by Captain “Sully” Sullenberger and First Officer Jeff Skiles is one of the most impressive examples of flight discipline, aircraft knowledge and handling, situational awareness, team work and crisis management in aviation history.
How well this was handled was not by chance. These gentlemen spent their lives perfecting their discipline, consciously and consistently looking for self-improvement for the moment that they would need to rise to the occasion. When that occasion occurs, there’s no second chance.
We thank Capt Sully, F/O Skiles and the cabin crew onboard that day for their professionalism and exemplary example they set for us. We also thank them all for their ongoing advocacy for flight safety and training.
