The Alice Prize

The Alice Prize The Alice Prize is a national contemporary art prize and welcomes artists from around Australia.

The Alice Prize is the most significant contemporary art prize in the Northern Territory, a vital and creative region of Australia. Held in Alice Springs biennially, the Prize is coordinated by the Alice Springs Art Foundation, a voluntary not-for-profit. The inception of the Alice Prize emerged from the efforts of a group of leading Alice Springs personalities in 1969. With prestigious judges, at

tractive prize money and free air freight, The Alice Prize was an enticing event. A great response from artists, the media and the public ensured that Opening Night was not only the highlight of the Alice Springs social calendar, but a significant event on the national art scene. Today, Alice Springs continues to be the vibrant centre of a thriving and diverse arts community. Suitably, the Alice Prize is now held at the wonderful Araluen Cultural Precinct, where the collection of works acquired through the Prize are also held on behalf of the Alice Springs Town Council and the community of Alice Springs.
