Lucky last!

The stunning work of C. Kunmanara Williams of Tangentyere Artists has been installed at Outbush Alice Springs as the last of our rollershutter beautifying program from this year’s festival.

Williams’ figurative narrative paintings explore life in Mparntwe, her Country Ntaria, and her mother’s Country Tempe Downs. Her unique technique and style give voice to her old stories.

This work picturing Tempe Downs is particularly vibrant and filled with the joy of everyday station life.

Mickey Wallace is a Western Arrernte man living with disability in Mparntwe/Alice Springs.

He enjoys drawing scenes that involve friends, family, places, and activities he loves and approaches his art-making with a jovial attitude.

He is accomplished in both digital drawings and as an animator using the Procreate program. Mickey has been attending Bindi Enterprises Digital art program for two years and became involved through a collaborative project with Incite Arts called 'Strong Feelings' where he is also part of a performing art ensemble.

Check out his work installed at Sporties Bar & Bistro

Check out the Lhere Artepe Youth & Community mural - the last of our festival murals; New Shoots, Strong Roots.

A restoration and reimagination of the original LAAC Totem mural from 2022, the mural depicts the three Central Arrernte estates, Irlpme, Mparntwe and Antulye.

MSAF brought original lead artist Tamara Cornthwaite (Colour Relief) back to collaborate with a dynamic team of Central and Western Arrernte artists to restore the damaged mural and the stories within it. This year also added the Euro and Emu, as well as a homage to the sacred River Gum that fell onto the wall shortly after its completion in 2022.

Lead Artists: Phillip McCormack, Amanda Turner, Tamara Cornthwaite, Jeremiah Daniels-Pepperill, Alyssa Mason. Crew: Aaliyah Anderson, Andi Dawsner-Usilionson, Aero, Emma Lake and Stars Foundation (CSC), Stick Mob

Supported by Red Hot Arts Activate Alice Lhere Artepe, Stick Mob Charles Darwin University Dr. Fiona Walsh, Stars Foundation Children's-ground italk Studios Akeyulerre, CAAMA Music BJ’s Mitre 10, Haymes Paint Darwin.

Post continues in comments with poems by lead artists Jeremiah Daniels-Pepperill & Tamara Cornthwaite.

"My art mainly consists of cutesy and vibrant pieces, usually the focal point being a feminine character with a fun and quirky motifs and aesthetic. I like each piece to have a clear theme to lean into and take great inspiration from fashion aesthetics, cultural attires, fantasy, mythology, pop culture and entertainment. "

A work and story of healing, unity and hope along Railway Tce by Karine 's Art -KAWA

"The mural conveys a message of healing and resilience. The calming colours and the background sandy tones create a soothing atmosphere, while the presence of the mulga parrot, known for its quiet nature, represents tranquility and peace.

The symbolic use of the red dots to represent pain and hurt suggests that through acknowledging and embracing our scars and experiences, we can find connection and beauty amidst adversity. Overall, the artwork promotes healing and the importance of solidarity..."

Chris Ng is an emerging visual and multidisciplinary artist currently living and based in Mparntwe/Alice Springs.
Spanning across many different forms, mediums and styles, Chris aims to make art that is relevant to people and the context in which it is presented. While living in Mparntwe
much of their work is inspired by the amazing country and biodiversity, rich culture(s) and people living there.

Their art is also informed by their own personal
experiences and identity as a first generation “Australian” of South East Asian/Chinese background, as well as their immediate surroundings and natural, political and socioeconomic landscape.
