A new major work has just left the studio.
183 × 122 cm. More than two weeks at the canvas. Every passage built by hand, dot by dot.

Fab has finished a large monochrome painting with the surface reading as movement: fine white dots over a black background flowing out from a single gathering point and opening across the full width of the linen. Up close the mark-making is tight and deliberate. From a step back it holds as one continuous field.

This is the kind of work serious collectors look for. Substantial scale, a sustained period of making, and a surface that rewards slow looking. Fab was in the studio with visitors while the painting was still in progress, talking through the work as it came together. It is now complete and available for acquisition.

A major srtwork is underway this week.

This is the scale and the series that established her. The black field, the white seed-forms, the gradated dotting that reads as both plant and flame — that is her language.

Collectors who know the work will recognise it immediately; those who have only seen the smaller canvases will see what happens when she is given room.
Wangunu is not a motif. It is a woman’s harvesting story from the arid country around Central Australia: woollybutt grass after summer rain, branches burnt over cool ash, seeds gathered in the coolamon, ground with water into damper that keeps. Fabrianne has painted that story for decades. Large examples in this tight monochrome are the ones that leave the studio least often, where smaller examples are often purchased before they are even finished or dry.
This canvas is still on the floor. It will be photographed, catalogued, and offered privately once it is complete.
