Just dropped in to MiRa in Marysville for a preview of this weekend's Art Show. Looking great! Here's my latest little offering that I'll be a bit sad to part with, to be honest but hopefully she'll find a loving home! 'All the Little Souls' Acrylic on Canvas 30 X 40 cm

Gosh, I've been SLACK posting on this page, haven't I? Sorry. Too busy doing STUFF like the following - my new children's book on anxiety is now at the printers (Woo Hoo!), my Redbubble shop with over 30 of my designs (see one for a t shirt below) is up and running and was actually given a heads up by Redbubble itself yesterday (Woo Hoo #2!), I delivered 4 paintings to Marysville yesterday (see 'Calmer Karma' below) for this weekend's Art Show (hopefully Woo Hoo #3!) AND just for fun, I've been doing a cartoon strip on the elusive Muse which has become quite addictive. As if all this wasn't enough, I'm toying with the idea of doing a pop-up gallery in my hometown. All this is great research for my forthcoming 20th!! book on the topic of 'Burnout'. Whew!

Sorry to be so slow with posts here but as usual, busy as! Working hard on my new book 'Cruising Through Calamity' which is fast-tracked and due for delivery 1st July! But on the art front, I've just 'leased' 'Bush Bride' for a house showing (house for sale) and have just completed a big commissioned painting for a 50th birthday this month ( I've been asked to hold off posting a pic till the event is over). So, no schlepping around in my jim jams watching movies for me!

Trying my hand at abstracts under guidance via an online course (I've had a crack at this myself but interested in trying out some more 'flowing' styles as my go-to is more defined, graphic style). First pic is of my dyi effort and second the first exercise of the onlins class. Still not the flowing style but having fun with this!

An empty old rainy Sunday has passed quite blissfully doing this piece for the solo show at Marian Rennie's Acheron on 25th Jan. This is 'City Sister', an homage to my lovely friend, Tracy who not only billets me when I am in Melbourne but has been my rock through many a challenge

Here's number 2 of my brief segue into some small pieces before I get back to the bigger stuff for my January 25th solo show at Marian Rennie's. These two (this and previous post) are now at the Alexandra Hotel and both are a return to using oil pastels. Whereas 'Garden of Wonders' was pastels (and oils to touch up) on a black background, this one 'To the Moon and Back' reverses the process with black painted over the pastels then scratched back. Gives a nice random feel with echoes of a woodcut. Hope you like!

Funny how the Muse takes you down her own path. I'm supposed to be doing BIG pieces for my solo show at Marian Rennie's (at Acheron, near Alexandra) in January (25th) but no - the Muse insisted I do a small piece using an early medium I haven't done for years - oil pastel, etched. Pretty happy with it 'Garden of Wonders'

Busy preparing for my solo show opening at Marian Rennie's gallery, Acheron (near Alexandra) on 25th January but meanwhile I entered 4 pieces at the Marysville Art Show last week and sold 3. The 4th piece, 'Land of 1000 Hills' is now hanging at the Alexandra Hotel.

Getting ready to hit the canvas big time for my exhibition at the gallery of international artist Marian Rennie. I asked for rhe show to be put back a little as I've been so busy doing my books so it's now mid January - a lovely time to enjoy Alexandra at its best with gorgeous scenery and wonderful rivers. Anyway, here's a sample of what's to come 'Land of 1000 Hills' (80% completed) which indeed, this area is. I'll keep you posted on the exact opening date

Back to the easel after a marathon 156 pages of book illustration for my new title 'Worry-proofing Your Anxious Child' (which will be out in a couple of months). It was so nice to get out the brushes again. An abstract this time, influenced by the Black Spur. This one is called 'Mountain Roads'. Mixed media on canvas

Been at the easel again! This was an offer I made to cheer up a truly hideous piece of generic, mass-produced 'art' such as those you find at furniture warehouses (a bit like the below only much nastier with big black textured swatches that bore a strong resemblance to projectile vomit). Anyway, something simply had to done because this monstrosity was decorating a children's cafe (it was found by the owner and he just 'whacked it on the wall'). Well once I got going, I got caught up in doing 100s of leaves (having turned the 'vomit' into trees) and voila! 'Children of the Forest' (P.S. it's 1.5 metres long!)

Finally finished 'Angel at my Table' - added real lace for the tablecloth and a few finishing touches. Someone has just bought this piece - she lost her 18 year old daughter and the woman in the painting reminds her of her girl and the angel reminds her of her grandmother. Love it when people engage with the works so much from the heart. :)

This weekend about 15000 people will converge on Alexandra for Sunday's annual truck show. I just delivered 3 works 'Walks in the Woods' for an art show The HeART of the Forest at the Shear N Sheds Barber Shop/Gallery (yes it's full of surprises!). VERY short deadline for this one so I went for a very spontaneous, looser style using pastels and fineliners.

Arrived back in Alex yesterday (having trouble updating the info on this page - I'm now in Alexandra) to find a painting that I had hung at the Alexandra Hotel (thanks Jackie and Pat!) had sold to some visitors on the weekend! This is a beautiful, classy establishment with great food and accommodation. Keep it in mind if you're up this way. Looks like Alex is the place where I'll be doing more painting (my favourite thing for relaxation). 'Dear Dolly' on the right is the one that sold. 'Big Me, Little Me' is also hanging - apparently the buyers were tossing up between the two. Yay!

Piece Gallery North is now way north! I have relocated to rural Victoria but the site means that Piece Gallery lives on regardless! After a very draining 2017 I will be taking some much-needed R and R over January to recharge my batteries (and maybe do a little art therapy) before a very busy year with the launch of 30 Days, 30 Ways to Overcome Anxiety in February and two further books to be completed by Sept/Oct plus a few other contributions as time and energy allow. See you then!
