We didn't set up any feedback method for the installation - but visitors found a whiteboard near the exit, and picked up the markers and started leaving their own messages.... it was lovely to both hear the feedback, and see the lovely notes visitors left after visiting... here's some I noted down....

We did it ! The Octopus is alive ! 🐙

The Night of the Reclaimed Octopus is returning for the Port Fairy Long Weekend Street Fair, next weekend!

The Street Fair runs alongside the famous Port Fairy Folk Festival.

It's a FREE family event that offers Port Fairy Folk Festival attendees and general public reasons to explore Port Fairy. With road closures in Sackville and Bank Street, these streets along with Fiddlers Green and Railway Place will be full of vibrant activity.

Activities include market stalls, live music, street performers and buskers, street food, seating nooks, family workshops, outdoor games, interactive art installations and much more!

There will be a bunch of activities, including our wonderful Night of the Reclaimed Octopus installation, inside the Sea Scout Hall !

The journey of the Reclaimed Octopus is well under way with our first workshop in Mortlake today seeing 4 of the tentacles complete with the help of some local youth. Looking forward to making the 4 more in Port Fairy tomorrow. Thank you to everyone for their involvement and to Shaw McLeod for the great photos.

FREE MARINE DEBRIS ART WORKSHOP - MORTLAKE
Come have fun and learn how to create amazing works of art from marine debris collected off our beaches and re-purposed materials under the guidance of local artists Aviators of Wonder.

In this workshop participants will make and build components of a giant octopus, jelly fish and underwater marine life that when combined, create a large scale interactive art installation titled The Night of the Reclaimed Octopus. The completed work will be on display at the Botanic Gardens, Port Fairy, before being transported to the Rainbow Serpent Festival in January 2020.

Saturday 30 November, Mortlake Community Centre, 101 Dunlop Street.

Drop -in workshop between 11am - 2pm

This workshop is aimed at 12+ yrs. Children are welcome, however must be accompanied by an adult.
