Very excited to be performing again in this year's Albury Chamber Music Festival! There a only a few passes left make sure you get yours before they are all gone!
Founded by its director Rebekah Beall, the AlburyCity based chamber choir debuted in December 2017. Lux Alba typically perform sacred a ca****la music, however they have hugely enjoyed singing choruses for Albury Chamber Music Festival, particularly for last year’s setting of Dido and Aeneas.
Lux Alba most often perform recitals in the beautiful acoustic of St Matthew’s Church, Albury and they’re thrilled to perform with us on ‘home turf’ as part of Carl Orff’s spectacular ‘Carmina Burana’.
The choir have also performed at Albury Wodonga Eisteddfod Ltd, where they were awarded first prize for the a capella section.
The name ‘Lux Alba’ when translated means ‘white light’ and was inspired by a quote from Arvo Part, ‘I could compare my music to white light which contains all colours. Only a prism can divide the colours and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener’.
Wodonga, Victoria based director Rebekah Beall aims to create a balanced blend of pure voices, informed by the notion of ‘white light’ transforming into a kaleidoscope of colours in the ear the listener. The size and selected make-up of the ensemble varies work-to-work in order to achieve this aim.
