Our dog’s love is unconditional. When our chips are down, we can always count on coming home to our best friend and feeling comfort, care and unwavering loyalty.
Today is National Military Working Dog Day. We take a moment to remember Fax.
On Jan 6th, 2013, Australia suffered one of its greatest losses of the Afghanistan war. Fax, whose courage and love continued to his last second, made the ultimate sacrifice and gave his life, so that his handler and Ryan could live.
Ryan went on to create Working Paws, an organisation that funds the ongoing care that military and service dogs require. These dogs are trained and dedicate their lives to service, suffering injuries on the battlefront, but are not provided any funding or care upon their retirement.
Please donate to Working Paws at workingpaws.com.au.
Thank you to for sharing this harrowing story for us all to understand what was actually sacrificed in the Afghanistan War.
Thank you to all the dog trainers, the dog handlers, both military and in the first responder world. But mostly thank you to the dogs themselves, who are often directly on the front line - the first in, to protect us all.
May Fax rest.
