VALE:
EVE WILKINSON – aka “Daphne” (19?? – 2026)
It is with a heavy, broken heart that Spectrum Theatre shares the news of the passing of our very dear friend and cherished Life Member, Eve Wilkinson.
Since joining Spectrum Theatre in 2007, Eve made a huge contribution to our theatre. She took on many roles on and off stage and had a much-valued tenure on the Spectrum Theatre Committee. Eve will be remembered by so many at Spectrum Theatre for being our wonderful and committed prompt during rehearsals and shows for so many productions – a role that was, at times, no mean feat (especially when lines were coming out from a multitude of different scenes at once)!
It wasn’t just during productions that Eve was our anchor and voice of sanity, though. Many of us relied on her straight-talking, sage advice so often. Her sharp wit and turn of phrase managed to make every drama or problem seem manageable. She was so generous with her time and adored watching productions progress from auditions and read-throughs to the final product. Even when she was no longer able to attend Spectrum as much as she wanted, she would always check in to see how productions were going and asked after the people involved.
Her reserves of strength and mettle truly were something to behold. So too was her firm and unwavering belief that a lady never tells her age – something she stood by right until the very end!
Spectrum Theatre held a very dear and special place in Eve’s heart, and it now feels as though the theatre has lost its glamorous, impeccably dressed matriarch.
Eve is going to be sorely missed, not just as a member of the theatre, but as a really dear friend whose smile could light up a room. Our thoughts go out to her family and friends who we know will be feeling this loss as intensely as we do.
Thank you for everything, our Eve, our Daphne.
Spectrum Theatre will be holding a get-together on Sunday morning at 10am in Eve’s honour.
