Good evening Nature Lovers!

Well it's been really quiet on the storm front over the last 4 weeks here in SE QLD. We've only had one storm day during February, last Tuesday the 14th, Valentines Day. I was originally rostered on to work Tuesday night but I managed to swap it for the Friday and got the day off to chase.

The storms were ok but nothing epic, not like the sunset on Friday night that I missed due to the shift swap! I almost cried looking out the door at work as the sky caught fire but it's storm season so I'd make the same choice again 😂

It got me thinking of a similar sunset I captured in late November out on the Darling Downs that I haven't shared yet. As most of you would know by now I love photographing windmills, this location has it all. A beautiful grand old Queenslander along with the rusty iron shed, Jacaranda Tree, water tanks. In my early 20's I did a carpentry apprenticeship, mainly working of old Queenslanders so I can fully imagine how this old girl looked in her prime, hopefully someone restores it back to it's former glory. I'd love to know the story behind it.

The Scenic Rim and Darling Downs are two of my favourite areas to chase storms and sunsets, there's so many great compositions and it's so freeing and good for the soul to get out of the city and hit the wide open road.

Here's hoping we get a few decent storms before the season ends!
