Day one of development for WHY AM I LIKE THIS? 💭

Today we gathered a room full of neurodiverse creatives from all different artistic backgrounds to begin exploring late diagnosis, identity, masking, memory, and the question that keeps circling: “Why am I like this?”

A really beautiful first day full of curiosity and connection. Very excited to see where the next 8 weeks take us.

We’re over halfway through our Radial Access workshops!!

We’ve been enjoying our time in Melbourne so far and spent our workshop day at Artshouse, where we continued to refine our ideas and continued discussing aesthetic access.

Our time here is almost up and we’re so excited to bring back what we’ve learned! (But also upset for it to all be over soon)💙

EOI NOW OPEN — Neurodiverse Creatives

We’re inviting neurodiverse artists, thinkers, and collaborators to join the core development team for WHY AM I LIKE THIS? by Amelia Rooney, produced by Dead Darling Theatre.

This is a space led by lived experience, exploring late-diagnosed autism and growing up AFAB, and we’re looking for people who want to help shape the work from the inside out. Whether you’re a performer, writer, designer, or simply someone with a creative perspective, your voice is vital to this process.

This development centres community, access, and authentic storytelling. You’ll be contributing to dramaturgy, collaboration, and the creative foundation of a new disability-led theatre work.

Submissions close 5PM, April 25.
Video submissions welcome.

That’s a wrap on Unmothered 💔

We closed last weekend and are still sitting in so much pride, gratitude, and awe. What started as an idea became something bold, messy, vulnerable, and deeply human, and we got to share it with all of you.

Thank you to every audience member who came, listened, felt, and held the work with us. Thank you to our incredible team of artists who poured everything into this show.

Until next time.
