Wildstyle

Wildstyle A monthly-ish no-theme dress up party in Adelaide. Talk it out! Be open!

PHILOSOPHY

Wildstyle has three goals:
[ 1 ] to encourage self expression in a safe environment free of ridicule or harsh judgement,
[ 2 ] to create a diverse social environment and
[ 3 ] to promote local artists and businesses.

We always aim to get a wide range of people from different backgrounds and social groups to participate and perform at our events. This is to ensure that the people who

attending are always changing and to increase the likelihood that you'll meet someone new each time!

Our DJs are encouraged to play what they want, rather than what they think the crowd wants to hear. With this in mind, you don’t come to Wildstyle for an expected night of “dancefloor bangers”; you come to hear what these people really enjoy and to hear things you havent heard.

While we do encourage complete freedom of expression, and will not dictate what people are allowed to wear, please do keep in mind whether it could be seen as culturally insensitive or offensive, as we want to maintain a comfortable atmosphere for all.

We also expect that if you are attending, you will keep your mind as open as possible to others’ methods of self expression. This goes two ways; do not ridicule others’ choices, but also do not assume you understand the full story of what you are looking at. Things can at times be taken out of context; hence the encouragement to keep an open mind as to what people have chosen to wear and why.

We would encourage you all to communicate with one another about these things! Have a chat!

FACTS

There is an entry fee of $10 but you can bring it down to $5 by going wild with your outfit.

A photographer is present at each event to record everyones efforts. Photos are posted to this page and Instagram.

If you would like to perform, dj or contribute anything else to the next Wild Style, you don’t need to be a pro - get in touch!

Bar staff give free drink cards at their discretion to the most expressive/original/sincere/fun attired attendees.

If you’re not sure exactly what we mean by “dress up party with no theme”; check out our photos and vibe it out. It’s not about fashion or trends - it's about expressing yourself outwardly independently of these things!
