The Mercury

The Mercury Screening the most extraordinary stories from around the world. The only subscription-based cinema in Australia!

The Mercury is a community focussed, not-for-profit cinema and film organisation that connects passion, profession and screen culture. The Mercury is a place to engage and immerse in story and our beloved Mercury Cinema is the home of independent cinema and Adelaide's West End's home of stories on screen. Established in 1974 as the Media Resource Centre, The Mercury is a subscription based cinema

and screen-resource centre. With single tickets and mini multi-passes available to casual cinema-goers, our subscribers have access to unlimited screenings, office space, sound studio, editing equipment, production equipment, production gear and our special events like Script Club and Launch Lab all included in a $25/month or $300/year subscription. Find out more: https://themercury.org.au/about-subscription/

Home to the Quicksilver Production Fund, South Australian Screen Awards and professional education program Launch Lab. Opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1992, our little bricks-and-mortar theatre has, for over 30 years, supported the development of screen culture as its mandate. We curate an eclectic program, showing new releases alongside retrospective works from Australia and around the world, and providing an avenue for local creatives to screen their work. Visit https://themercury.org.au/ to see what’s on. Our cinemas offer premium film projection facilities, surround sound, and plush, tiered seating. In the foyer, you’ll find a Hollywood inspired Lounge Bar and Cafe. In addition to our curated film offerings every week, the 186-seat Mercury and 36-seat Iris, and the foyers, are available for hire. They’re perfect for functions including film screenings, live and mixed media performances, fundraisers, launches, parties, conferences and seminars. Each hire includes a fully qualified projectionist for all screenings, and experienced front-of-house staff. Find out more: https://themercury.org.au/venue-hire/

You’ll find The Mercury Cinema at 13 Morphett St, adjacent to the southern end of the Morphett Street Bridge, in Adelaide’s West End Creative Precinct.
