Everyone has a form of Art in their Life and their environment whether it is a decorative, informative, confronting or reflective. It can be as simple as an item picked up on a walk or as complex as an architectural feature built into the structure you live in. The common factor is that the viewer has a connection to the piece is it means something or has some visual pleasure to those that allowed
it into their environment. As an Artist all I want to do is bring a collection of visual images or items I personally enjoy, to those that may also see the image or item as being something they want to have in their life. These images may be abstract and original or influenced from other artists works or cultural influences from the past or current. My biggest influence is paint itself its reaction to different processes and environments and how layering colours can create focus and clarity. My love for Stencil Art is polar opposite to the abstract work but is as an equal passion heavily influenced by growing up in the 60's when advertising was all colour and jingles. Stencils offer a raw and immediate medium suited to street walls or gallery walls and on canvas, their distortion over time through multiple use create an individual vision each time, a multiple repeated image on a wall has a power that evokes images of revolution, mass media and gives me great pleasure. Artists influences are many and varied from 50's to now, artists like Jackson Po***ck, Rothlko, Raschenburg, Roy Lichenstein, Andy Warhol, Jean Michel Basquiat, Jackson Po***ck,David Bromley, Brett Whitely, David Larwilll, Anthony Lister, Adam Cullen, Ben Frost, Rone, Vexta, Ben Eine, Regan Tamanui, Johnny Romeo, Damien Hirst, Banksy and many more. It is said that a man that gets up each day and can choose what he wants to do is freedom. But if a man gets up each day and does what he loves to do that is happiness,
However when that free and happy man can bring freedom and happiness to others in the world through his work he has a fulfilled and meaningful life. Thanks for the support and look forward to some exciting times ahead.
