You know, we're just an old page about a small, obsolete stand up comedy gig that took place at a venue that isn't even open anymore. And nobody asked for our opinion, but here it is anyway: We are absolutely sickened by the decision to close the West End brewery. It's a disgusting move by a heartless multinational corporation, and it ends once and for all something that was truly important to South Australians. A curse on Lion-Mitsubishi, and a curse on the greedy West End proprietors who sold out all those many years ago. At the heart of the matter, THAT was when West End died. We can see it clearly now. If we had our time again, we would have called the gig 'Coopers Laugh' - in celebration of a bonafide South Australian, family-owned company, that respects its workers, its home and its heritage - even though that wouldn't have been as catchy a name or made as much sense geographically. West End Draught factory operators! Atop your chimney, paint not the colours of this weekends SANFL victor. Rather, in honesty, you should fly the flags of piracy and surrender. Goodnight West End Draught. You died many years ago, but at least now your co**se has ceased to twitch.
