After four memorable years shaping the Tasting Australia presented by drinks program, Meira Harel and Banjo Harris Plane will conclude their tenure as Festival Curators.

Over the past four years, Meira and Banjo have helped broaden the conversation around what we drink and why it matters. Through new concepts, fresh perspectives and a commitment to showcasing the people behind each bottle, they have played a significant role in evolving the festival's drinks program and creating experiences that sparked curiosity, connection and conversation.

We thank Meira and Banjo for their creativity, generosity and dedication.

Stay tuned for the next chapter of Tasting Australia.

Because some of the best meals aren’t just about what’s on the plate, but the moments and memories of where they’re shared.

Every dish tells a story.

For chefmarkbest that was especially true of his hero dish onboard The Ghan for Tasting Australia by Train.

Mark created an Afghan Curry with saltbush lamb, palaw and sabzi — a dish that celebrates Australia’s native ingredients while honouring the cultural legacy of the Afghan cameleers, whose journeys across the outback inspired the name of The Ghan.

Rooted in history and shaped by place, it’s a reminder that some of the most memorable meals are those that connect us to the stories of the land beneath our feet.
